Ep 40 was your beach episode. Hardcore Ecchi fans will be disappointed. When I look back on Black Clover, their fan service is not that controversial nor erotic. Surprisingly, it's lower than My Hero Academia's fan service. I thought this anime would be dirty because of how perverted their characters are. Good for fans who don't like ecchi.
The episode was to help Noelle but it was mostly beach filler. The real Noelle stuff begins in Ep . 41.
Noelle gets her character spotlight. I'm not sure if her popularity is going to be in a controversial thing because most shonen heroines who are a love interest, potentially - Sakura (Naruto), Orihime (Bleach), Lucy (Fairy Tail) tend to be hated by fans for some reason.
Honestly, I'm not here to bash characters. I never do that because it's not a healthy discussion. I'm more likely to discuss their characters and what makes them appealing or unapppealing to certain demographics
For Noelle - she suffers from a lack of character focus. Her character is pretty muched tied to Asta's love interest role instead of being her own character. It's fine but for fans who identify with women's rights regardless of their gender might not find Noelle attractive.
I don't want to get into the women issues in anime since that is very controversial area and it's hard to please all fans.
It was a good episode nonetheless. I did like Noelle and Asta out of Black Bull guild who are bad teachers and mentors. The idol girl actually did more work than they ever did.
Asta is too convenient for a tool. He's is handy on magic missions with magic traps and barriers. He just nullifies all traps and barriers with magic. They draw marine life pretty well. Then, they mention some of the marine life adapted to using magic. That was a bit awkward world building there.
Not much of interest happened. I'm not into the mirror guy. There are lot of siscon characters that are entertaining from other franchises but not this guy in Black Clover.
Grey's true form was revealed. I just realized the opening had spoiled me. I thought the guild will get a new member in the future, a blue haired girl. Turns out it was Grey's true form.
The show tries to explain Asta's weaknesses. What I assume that the show doesn't spell for verbatim, Asta lacks swordsmanship, a style. The show adds Asta is vulnerable to long distance attacks, not magically imbued. I think if he faces anyone with a lack of Chi/Qi like from Dragon Ball Z, he would be screwed.
One of the problems that I realize is a long going issue is tonality. Black Clover does funny scenes but when it comes to serious matters, the show cannot handle itself and remain serious. The violence in the show isn't that startling compared to shows like Yona of the Dawn where decapitation occur once and it was shocking. The injuries and the tension aren't really dire.
the positive parts is the arc still fleshes and evolves Noelle's character.
They crammed a lot. Didn't expect 2 backstories with flashbacks - our character spotlights were on Vanessa and teleport boy.
While we don't get why Vanessa was trapped in a huge bird cage and why Yami free her, it was quite the surprise to find Vanessa a witch isolated from her people.
Teleport boy - umm... I don't feel sorry for him. Rich kid gets compared to his older brother - pretty common cliche. He makes up for his inferiority complex by hitting on women. Took me a while but I learn he doesn't teleport, he manipulates spatial magic. He just can't use it offensively to destroy things like his brother.
Speaking of that, wouldn't Asta nullify his comrade's spatial magic by accident if he keeps teleporting?
Whatever, nakama power and more reinforcements from big eater, Grey, and siscon Gauche
Episode preview is a bit spoiler - random ass transformation to beat a monster that teamwork can't defeat
Thanks for the news. I'm really surprised this anime is getting more episodes. They should just do what My Hero Academia does. I hate to compare Shonen anime series. It's because of how Crunchyroll and other series kept hyping it's the new King of Shonen anime. Definitely a controversial shonen anime series but it's surprisingly getting more episodes despite the lack of substance and source material. I couldn't care less for the manga. I'm used to it anime doing whatever they want.
It was weird to see witches being a group within mages and wizards in this world. Then I realize it's like the witches are Amazonians, all women only group. That's pretty much it to distinguish them other than hats. Have to wait and find out about their magic.
Dream: Will post a little later what the next voted anime will be that I will watch and review.

Dream: Hmmmm... looks like the version of Vampire Bund I'm seeing on Funi's YouTube channel's an edited version. A couple minutes of episode 2 were clearly removed with Mina in nothing but underwear battling human assassins. Then again, recall there was a good...

Dream: Not sure if I should be donning the nostalgia goggles or not giving a damn. Looks like the original Digimon Adventure series is getting a reboot airing starting in the Spring season.

Taka: I'll watch it if there's nothing catching my eye in Spring. winter 2020 was a weak anime season for me.

Dream: Wouldn't say it's all bad for me. Have a few titles holding my interest. Just it typically doesn't have as many major titles of note that would hold me over.

Dream: Done with Vampire Bund. Will be working on a review of it before I hop into the next Funi series. Hoping to get it up either tonight or tomorrow, depending on how lengthy my thoughts get.
