Guillermo del Toro Discusses Role in Kojima's Death Stranding Game
Director Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy, Mimic, Blade II, Pacific Rim) talked about his role in Hideo Kojima's upcoming Death Stranding game during a phone interview with game website IGN on Monday. In the interview, del Toro said that he is not creatively involved in the game, but that Kojima had contacted him to ask him to be a character in the game. He noted that the motion and facial capture scanning for his character's model took seven hours.
Based on the tagline and the scenes, this is a post-apocalyptic game taking place after a cataclysmic disaster.
"Once, there was an explosion. A bang which gave birth to time and space. Once, there was an explosion. A bang which set a planet spinning in that space. Once, there was an explosion. A bang which gave rise to life as we know it... ...And then, came the next explosion."
Based on the trailer, their facing some kind of indescribable extra-terrestrial or supernatural threat. It's invisible but it's appearance is shown through those hand prints on the ground and the enormous figure towards the end. Seems to have the power to rapidly age humans among other things.
That shadowy figure that appears on top off the vehicle is definitely Mads Mikkelson's character from the second trailer. Both doing the same gestures.
Seems he's connected in some way to that invisible entity. The entity uses strands from it's body to catch it's victims while Mads Mikkelson's character had the same strands attached to his squad of undead soldiers.
As for the babies, with the dead, dreary setting of barren wastelands and dead sea life, I'd say most of life on the planet has died out and the babies the adults are protecting is to ensure the survival of humanity.
So seems to be a supernatural/sci-fi/horror thriller of some kind. Also, I hear the game will be open world.
Just a guess on the rest. This is a Kojima game after all. Wouldn't put it past him for all these trailers to collectively be one big red herring just to mindfuck everyone XD

Can't imagine what's in store for those that get captured by that entity. Can't be pleasant between one dude rapidly aging away just from being near it and the other guy preferring to gut himself with a knife rather than get caught by it.
Also, they have to hold their breath when it approaches yet those noisy sensors on their backs that go off when it's close by doesn't give them away to it?
CosmicNoirTear, i thought that was interesting that they had to not make a sound but their sensors were clicking away. perhaps this alien threat doesn't respond to technology and only organic life? theories aside though it was an interesting bit of the trailer.
I'm most interested in Mikkelson's character since his little trailer thing has been a wildly different setting. it was an odd WW2/modern surrealist trailer. how this ties into our aliens and their little dimension is beyond me.
i think the babies are supposed to be their defense or something along that line. we saw a raw (LOL) baby in our first trailer that daryl was looking for. in this one the baby was in a little tube thing (Also the baby is oddly developed for being in such a small container. ) which we then saw inside daryl.
Dream: Will post a little later what the next voted anime will be that I will watch and review.

Dream: Hmmmm... looks like the version of Vampire Bund I'm seeing on Funi's YouTube channel's an edited version. A couple minutes of episode 2 were clearly removed with Mina in nothing but underwear battling human assassins. Then again, recall there was a good...

Dream: Not sure if I should be donning the nostalgia goggles or not giving a damn. Looks like the original Digimon Adventure series is getting a reboot airing starting in the Spring season.

Taka: I'll watch it if there's nothing catching my eye in Spring. winter 2020 was a weak anime season for me.

Dream: Wouldn't say it's all bad for me. Have a few titles holding my interest. Just it typically doesn't have as many major titles of note that would hold me over.

Dream: Done with Vampire Bund. Will be working on a review of it before I hop into the next Funi series. Hoping to get it up either tonight or tomorrow, depending on how lengthy my thoughts get.
