I've been curious recently as to what people believe ToAru's speed is from its low tiers to high tiers. (At least the ones that stil rely on speed as a concept.)
I've seen MHS to relativistic to FTL for the high ends so I wanna know what the justification is for all of this.
Forgive me, for I have sinned. Borne of loyalty, your will I once defied. Forgive me, for I am naught but a fool, never your equal. Let your crimson pyres have their fill. For he who fears the tip of my lance, their flames shall never cross! Briah: Donner Totentanz - Walküre!
Cynick Believe the entire discussion began with Misaka's lightning spear, which was stated to move at lightspeed according to the novel (if the translations were correct). And well Touma reacting to that thanks to precog. Touma without precog though was in a lot of trouble, as he had trouble against Rensa going at supersonic speeds because he could not read anything to predict her movements. He did dodge it, though barely. Misaka also sent down real lightning, which kinda makes the lower limit for high tiers MSH.
On the other hand though guys like Acqua had a casual feat of moving over 20 kilometers to appear next to the one observing him in a second. Kanzaki also went above the speed of sound, as did one of her underlings as was actually stated iirc. Though then again, Kanzaki and Acqua are some of the stronger ones in the verse. Accelerator also controlled the electric impulses from nerves.
So well at least MHS for the high ends is a given though, as there are enough feats to support it. And there are even more feats of people reacting to supersonic attacks, which gives even the low-mid tiers some speed. I can dig up some passages later, but now i can't access them right now.

Cynick , Relativistic+ reaction speed from mid tier characters like Misaka and Gunha. Gunha could react to Misaka's lightning with the aforementioned speed quite casually as could Touma.
Misaka from reacting to several of Mugino's Meltdowner Beams
And another example.
And for what it's worth, Misaka was also deflecting away lasers from Objects that move at light speed.
From there you just scale to everyone else that matters. Misaka can about keep up with a Saint like Brunhild or Kanazaki in a fight. Saints also are fast enough to outrun lightning strikes like when Kanzaki was able to escape Mjolnir's enormous lightning strike that blew away about a dozen kilometers of stone.
Speed is difficult topic in toaru if we power scale we have knights intercepting lightning kanzaki speed blitzing knights angel gabriel keeping up with kanzaki accelerator speed blitzing gabriel and Touma swatting away accelerator's wings (which should be on the same level if not higher than accelerators base speed ) 2 times and kanzaki speed blitzing Touma yeah it doesn't make sense. So dont power scale toaru just go with what the novel tells u.

Taka: I see. A global release will benefit it. Gundam did pretty good. The only few franchises that are only popular in Japan but not popular in the west - Yokai Watch comes to mind.

Master Menos: F for Respects. DMX did all his work while suffering from a drug addiction, and I almost never knew until a point. I hope his next life treats him far better.
