The trading of blows was blocked from Leslie's view by a spray of blood. All she could see was the result, and the result didn't look good. Yuhao went tumbling, but the apostle of Dantalion remained standing. But Leslie was watching from behind. From the front, Yuhao could see what his strike had done. The leonine beast had an x that passed through his rib cage and everything underneath. He looked down at Yuhao, blood dripping down his legs and pooling beneath him.
"Now you know the power of hell." Was all he said before collapsing forward. Leslie came up behind him and raised her sword, hesitating when the mask began to peel at the edges. The lion mask fell off, but something else came off with it. Leslie stopped hesitating and her sword fell, severing the man's neck in one stroke. Only then did she kneel to see what had come off his face. She nearly dropped her sword when she realized the truth.
It was another mask. His own face lay right next to his severed head. The head's eyes were closed in sleep, the mask's wide open and looking around. Leslie kicked them both in a mad panic, making them sail over the side of the island. She scrambled backwards until she crashed into Ardrugas. He caught her in his arms as she slipped, holding her tight. "What? What happened? Did he survive that?" Ardrugas had heard her blade go through bone. There was no way he was alive. "No. No, he didn't survive. We should move." Leslie steadied herself and stood on her own. She cast a long look Yuhao's way. She wasn't letting him on the elevator wearing that mask.
Image after image passed threw his mind. He saw the owner of the face being born and living his life. One memory that stood out was a invader by a shadowy figure. One by one the people of his dimension fell to the figure eventually he too fell and became a mask. As if the mask was passing on it's wisdom as a last act of defiance to its prisoners. The mask faded into yellow light and floated off into the sky before vanishing. Yuhao stood straight up and let a single tear fall from his eyes. The last attack left him damaged as his shirt was now revealing the left side of his body and the rest of his clothes were torn in a few places along with cuts and bruises throughout his body. Solemnly we walked over to his sword and placed it back on his side then walked towards the elevator while he wiped a trail of blood that was on the side of his mouth.

Leslie watched carefully, breathing a sigh of relief when the mask vanished. Schísimo stared at Yuhao in a way that utterly disturbed Leslie. Yuhao wasn't terrible looking, but staring like that was just creepy. It made her heart stir more when she realized the truth. She wasn't staring at his muscles. Even with the hair hiding her eyes it was clear; Schísimo was lusting after his injuries, his cuts and bruises.
Leslie edged away from their guide. She already didn't trust the demon, but now she was wondering what Schísimo might actually do. If they were too injured to fight back, would she pounce? And if she did, what kinds of things would she do to them? She gestured Yuhao over and put her head together with Ardrugas. "You are worried about the demon?" Ardrugas guessed.
"How did you tell?" Leslie wondered. "She is making noises I don't like and Yuhao has half a shirt." Ardrugas could feel Yuhao's bare shoulder in the tight quarters. "Yes, well. It's got me thinking she might be a problem. Any input, Yuhao?" Leslie turned to Yuhao for confirmation. After all, he was the one drawing her attention.
Yuhao glanced over at the demon then back at his allies. "No point in attacking her yet. I'm not as damaged as I look," Yuhao said then ripped off what was left of his shirt to rip off a small ribbon to tie his hair up and the rest he just used to clean the blood off of himself. "We still need her as a guide and we don't have a clear idea of her stats," he added then turned his attention to the onlooking demon. He had to admit that the way he was being looked at might have made him happy if it was a different girl but this demon wasn't exactly looking at him in a friendly way. He placed his hand on the handle of his sword and turned his attention to the elevator doors.

Schísimo seemed to realize she was noticed and blushed, looking at the wall. Leslie raised her visor to rub her hand across her face. She refused to even consider the demon's state of mind. Embarrassment at being seen checking out Yuhao's wounds? Was that even possible for a demon? It was unpleasant to think about. The doors slid open again and Leslie quickly wiggled out. She was nearly bowled over the wind that struck her. She grabbed Ardrugas when she saw him tipping and anchored them in place.
The wind that whipped came at them from across a totally barren landscape. Ardrugas felt the ground on his bare feet. It was like nothing he had ever felt. It crunched beneath his feet, holding a shape like wet sand even though it was totally dry. It mildly stung his feet, formed of many sharp grains. He could feel how flat the surface was, but he couldn't see the sole landmark of the landscape. Before them rose a strange tower, like an extra-tall lamppost. The light at the top slowly blinked green, casting a unpleasant pall on the landscape.
"Schísimo, what is this?" Leslie asked, but the demon was lying on her front, face pressed into the ground. "I... okay." Leslie edged away from the fury, stopping on the edge of a circle drawn around the tower. "Ardrugas, there's a tower with a circle around it." "Look for buttons!" "No! I'm not touching that until I'm sure about what it does!" Leslie didn't even want to set foot in the circle.
Yuhao tilted his head to look at the demon's strange reaction to being caught staring. While that wasn't his first time making somebody blush from his appearance that was the first time he felt uneasy by it. Still Yuhao kept a eye on her. Once the doors opened Yuhao instantly stepped out the space and took in the sights. The first thing Yuhao noticed was the strange ground. He examined it with his stellar eyes and had to turn them off from the headache from the countless grains that assaulted his vision. He then turned his attention to the tower before he finally rested his eyes on the circle. He is thought about the circle for a bit to see if there was anything in his memory that might relate to this yet couldn't. He was about to say something when he heard a thud behind him which caused him to spin around quickly. Once turned around he noticed the Fury was face first in the ground. "You ok?" he asked with a hint of confusion at the strange predicament he found himself in.

The demon didn't respond for a while, keeping her face pressed into the earth. However, she finally raised it slightly and mumbled. "Seere. Lord of travel. Poles teleport." She responded before planting her face in the dust once more. "I guess then we have to use those on this level." Leslie had started to notice grey figures struggling against the wind in the far distance, presumably souls trapped here. She didn't much like this as a potential afterlife. It was torture by boredom.
She stepped over the line, guiding Ardrugas over with her. "So how do we tele-" She touched the pole and her sentence finished somewhere else entirely. They were still before a pole on a flat grey landscape, but now two other poles stood out far away. From above, they would form a triangle. "Oh. Well I figured-" Leslie was much more painfully interrupted this time when something struck her. Metal shattered away from her helmet and she toppled, yelling in surprise and pain. "Everybody down!" She yelled, Ardrugas diving to shield her with his body.
"Are you alright!?" He asked touching her face. He could feel blood and torn flesh until a hole in her helmet. "It was a sniper! My armor took the worst of it, but fuck that hurts! Yuhao, can you see them with your fancy eyes!?" Leslie yelled past Ardrugas. If Yuhao looked, he could see her down by one of the distant poles, lying on her stomach with an oversized sniper rifle to her eye. She was a lean woman, blue hair falling over the eye not pressed against the scope, clad in military fatigues. The gun turned towards Yuhao and fired again as he watched.
Yuhao turned towards Leslie when she yelled out in pain and instantly went into action. He noticed the direction the bullet came from and instantly turned his Stellar Eyes towards the direction of the shot. He only had enough time to notice the woman and take in her details before the shot was fired. He quickly encased his sword in Stellar Qi and quickly swatted the bullet away. "One female can't tell if attractive or not shooting at us in the distance," Yuhao declared then placed himself between the sniper and his allies to give time for Leslie to recover and for a plan to be thought of.

"How attractive she is doesn't matter!" Leslie stood, taking shelter behind the pillar. "The pillars!" Ardrugas pointed. "How close is she to one?" He asked, unable to check for himself. He could calculate she was over three miles away, but couldn't see the pillars. When Yuhao looked again, he would realize she was right in the center of the three pillars, equidistant from them. Teleporting wouldn't get them closer.
"Obviously looks are important as for some reason really evil people tend to be grotesque," Yuhao answered back while he kept a eye on the sniper. Without answering Yuhao rushed at the sniper with his sword in front of him. He wasn't sure if the sniper could read lips or not but he hoped that the two allies of his would take this opportunity to flank the sniper while he provided a threat she couldn't ignore.

"Excuse me?" Ardrugas raised a finger. "Ardrugas, we're being shot at. We can discuss looks later. Besides, you're, ah..." A tiny scrap of blush showed through the hole in Leslie's helmet. Complimenting his looks in public felt weird. Like some sort of exhibitionism. "It's not me, it's my whole species he's-" "Ardrugas, we need to move!" Leslie pulled Ardrugas to his feet as she stood and ran to the teleportation post. "I hate to admit it, but the plan makes sense. It's not ideal, but he can block that better than us. I'll flank her with one of the poles, you..." Lelie tilted her head.
Ardrugas' bare chest could block most gunfire, but this had blown a hole in Leslie's armor. That was more than even he could take without injury. "Stay here." She said, jumping to the pole and vanishing far away. Ardrugas stood there with his arms halfway out. Teleportation disoriented the hell out of him. One moment she was there, the next second, nothing. No sound of her breath, no warmth from her body. Worse was her running into battle without him. He could hear another shot ring out and grabbed the sides of his head. He didn't know who was shot at or if they were hurt. Leslie could be lying dead on this infinite plane and he couldn't even tell.
Leslie was not in fact the target. The sniper had kept her gun locked on Yuhao. An odd distortion bent the air before she fired, like a mirage. The trigger was pulled, Yuhao would see the flash, then the bullet came flying. It wasn't a normal sniper shot, the kind Yuhao had already blocked. The bullet veered wildly, impossibly, coming in zigs and zags at him, little red sparks going off every time it changed direction. Its trajectory was wild, but it was still clearly coming for him as the sniper turned her sights on Leslie.
Yuhao kept his pace as the bullet raced towards him he traced the movements with his eyes and he also activated a stellar field to track the bullet. How he wished he still had that mask from earlier so he could fly as he quickly cut the bullet out of the way. He quickly quickened his pace. When he noticed that Leslie was the next target he used his sword to throw some of the ground up behind him then jumped in the air and and used his stellar step to bounce off the ground and propel himself forward ready to throw a Stellar slash as soon as he was in range which he hoped was before she shot Leslie.

The bullet narrowly passed under Yuhao when he lunged. He had avoided injury, but he wasn't fast enough to stop the sniper from taking a shot at the Albion knight. Her bullet flew, but while Leslie wasn't as fast as Yuhao, her blade was wide enough that a good guess was enough to place it in the bullet's path. The bullet flattened itself on the flat of her sword and she kept walking like it didn't happen. The sniper was aiming to fire again when Yuhao's stellar slash came flying in at her side.
The flashing attack impacted her side, sending her spinning off of the ground to land flat on her back. She gasped for air, holding her side. She desperately drew a pistol from her hip and fired at Leslie, but the small-caliber fire couldn't even scratch her armor. She was out of bullets before Yuhao could reach her, leaving her with no recourse but to glare up at him. Up close, Yuhao could see that his assailant's face was gaunt and lean, the eye covered by her hair also shielded by an eyepatch. A few rings in her eyebrows cemented her rough, punk look. "So, how evil is kind of plain with piercings?" Leslie asked as she caught up. She looked over to where Ardrugas waited, but she could barely see him.
"Neutral?" Answered as he crouched down in front of the sniper and eyed her injury. He sheathed his sword and turned to Leslie. "Go get Ardrugas I think I'll spend time talking to this sister," Yuhao suggested as he once again focused on the girl. "How about you tell me your name and why you are here and I'll heal you," Yuhao offered as he waited for the sniper to answer. He felt that unlike the previous two floors where he couldn't question the enemy here he could finally gain some insight to the tower and possibly even some information on the higher floors.

"She shot me." Leslie crossed her arms. "You weren't kidding about that? You really judge morality by looks?" She sighed and turned away, walking the long trek back to Ardrugas. Yuhao's enemy looked up at him, quiet for a long moment. "Why does it matter?" She finally asked. "I am a defeated enemy. Do what you will with me." She remained laying down, not resisting.
"Ardrugas!" Leslie called as she approached him. It took a few calls before he seemed to hear her and waved, calling back. She picked up her pace and jogged to him. "It's handled. Yuhao wants to interrogate her for some unholy reason." She explained, taking off her helmet to survey the damage. "Hold on. First, I want to hear you say you're alright." Ardrugas felt her face, jerking his hand away when she yelped. "I'm fine! Just a little scratched up. It's nothing, really." Leslie was telling the truth. As frightening as the hit was, it wasn't all that life-threatening. "How do we get back? Just touch one of the poles again?" Leslie stroked her chin and Ardrugas shrugged.
Yuho furrowed his brows at the girl's reaction. He let out a agitated sigh then coated his finger in qi and tapped her forehead and gentlying vibrated the qi to knock her out painlessly. He then quickly healed her side and threw her over his shoulder and took off towards the elevator. He honestly didn't know why he decided to bring her with him. Though reason enough is that he didn't feel right leaving her in such a place and felt she was safer with them. After a few minutes of running Yuhao met up with Leslie and Ardrugas and gave a friendly smile as he adjusted the weight of the sniper on his shoulder carefully as to not hurt her, "So can I keep her? I promise to walk and take care of her," Yuhao joked to lighten the mood about bringing a enemy combatant with them.

“Hold on. Before you get ready to leave, I wanted to talk about you teleporting away.” Ardrugas put a hand on Leslie’s shoulder. “I didn’t have time to warn you. Yuhao was already charging.” Leslie shrugged his hand off. “And I understand that, but I worried about you. There was nothing I could do if you got shot out there.” He awkwardly held his hand out and after a moment she took it.
“Things are different here. Back where you’re from, you fight just for fun. Here, people are fighting to kill us. There’s going to be times where you can’t help me. In those cases, you just have to do your best on your own. And if I don’t make it… keep going. There’s more at stake than us.” She squeezed his hand, regretting that she had her gauntlets on. She couldn’t feel anything through cold steel. Before he could respond, Leslie was making an exasperated sigh. “Yuhao, what are you doing?” She realized it was baffling to Ardrugas and quickly explained.
“He’s holding the apostle.” She grumbled. “Ah. Why?” Ardrugas reached out and touched the apostle’s neck, noting she had a pulse. “Is she a hostage? Do you think that’ll work?” Leslie doubted these people cared much for their own. It certainly took somebody deeply horrible to side with demons. “I’d rather you just killed her. She’s an enemy after all.” Leslie crossed her arms. “A defeated enemy.” Ardrugas protested. “...very well. I’ll accept it, but on two conditions. One, I’ll search her for any remaining weapons. Two, you’re going to restrain her.” Leslie took two plastic loops from her bag and demonstrated how to tighten and loosen them.
Yuhao quickly tied the sniper up then offered her to Leslie to search. "Thought it would be entertaining to bring her," Yuhao stated plainly as if it was obvious. For added effect he gave a smile and shrugged his shoulders. After Leslie had finished searching her he took her back and threw her on his shoulder. He then walked into the elevator and waited for the rest to join him.

"...that's it?" Leslie grumbled. "You are a strange man, Xun Yuhao." Ardrugas shook his head and touched the pole. The three found themselves back at the elevator, where Schísimo had finally stood up. She looked at the returning heroes with interest. The hole in Leslie's helmet drew her attention until she noticed the woman in her arms. "Apostle?" She tilted her head. "Yes." Leslie carried her towards the elevator. "A gift?" Schísimo reached a talon at the unconscious woman's face.
"Not a chance. She's a... I don't know, Yuhao can explain it." Leslie tilted her hostage away from the fury and took her behind the elevator. "...toy?" She asked, scratching her chin. A minute later, Leslie returned with the woman and handed her back. "Here." Leslie threw aside three pistols and two knives with a disgusted expression. "That's why you search your prisoners thoroughly." She scrubbed her hands with a towel drawn from her bag. The elevator's doors opened for the team, ready for their entry.
Yuhao shrugged at the weapons and grabbed them and then grabbed the girl. "Have no idea what I'm gonna do with her besides take her back to the Sect and let Grandfather decide what to do with her," he answered as he entered into the elevator and threw the weapons in the corner out of the way. As he waited for the elevator he hummed a soft tune as he slowly started working on recovering his qi. while doing that he also decided to go over the events of the last three floors paying close attention to that mask he wore as he felt that was somehow the qi to his next breakthrough.
