Director Hiroyuki Imaishi and scriptwriter Kazuki Nakashima are teaming again for the new project at Trigger. Trigger and Nakashima are credited with the original work. Shigeto Koyama is in charge of character design and mechanical design, and Sushio (Kill la Kill) is involved as an animator. Tomotaka Kubo (Mary and The Witch's Flower) is the art director, and Saishi Ichiko is in charge of logo design. Hiroyuki Sawano (Attack on Titan, Kill la Kill) is composing the music. SANZIGEN Animation Studio is handling the 3DCG animation. XFlag is credited with production, and TOHO will distribute the film.

The anime's protagonist is named Galo (seen with blue hair in image above), who is a new recruit in a rescue team. The anime will have mechs called "Matoi-Tech," named after the "matoi" banners that Edo-period firefighting units used.
Ken'ichi Matsuyama as Galo Thymos, a new member of the Burning Rescue team. He's still in his teens but has more attitude than anyone. He is a reckless meathead who runs headlong to the scene of a fire.
Taichi Saotome as Lio Fotia, the leader of Mad Burnish. Lio seems like someone who keeps their cool, but it's actually the opposite. Lio aims to burn everything with the power of a special flame called "Burnish Flare."
Masato Sakai as Kray Foresight, the administrator of the Independent Republic of Promepolis and chief director of the Foresight Foundation. He used to research fireproof building materials, but successfully developed an instant-freeze bullet that can put out a Burnish fire. Galo looks up to him.
Ayane Sakura as Aina Ardebit, a member of Burning Rescue who, like Galo, is in her teens. She is cool, calm, and professional at all times, and does things at her own pace. She plays the straight man to Galo and Varys.
Hiroyuki Yoshino as Remi Puguna, the vice-captain of Burning Rescue. He's a good-looking guy in his 20s, and he is as smart as he looks. He is an indispensable adviser to the captain Ignis.
Tetsu Inada as Varys Truss, a member of Burning Rescue, in charge of heavy machinery. He's a muscular guy in his 30s, and he's always training his body. He partners with the diminutive Lucia when out on a job.
Mayumi Shintani as Lucia Fex, a small mechanic at Burning Rescue. She handles the development and maintenance of Burning Rescue's equipment. She also constructed Galo's Matoi.
Rikiya Koyama as Ignis Ex, the captain of Burning Rescue, in his 30s. On missions he makes wise decisions and leads the other members. He trusts his team and they trust him.
GKIDS and Fathom Events will screen the film in North America on September 17 and 19 at 7:00 p.m. local time. The screening on September 17 will have an English dub, and the screening on September 19 will have English subtitles. The film will separately open in select theaters on September 20.

The official Twitter account for Studio Trigger and XFlag's original anime film Promare revealed on Tuesday that the film has earned more than 1 billion yen (about US$9.4 million). The staff is preparing a "thank you plan" to show gratitude to fans.

Box Office Mojo reports that Thursday's screening of Trigger and XFlag's original anime film Promare in the United States on Thursday earned US$467,007 to rank at #3 for the day. The film earned US$255,829 on its Tuesday screening, and has earned US$722,836 total as of Thursday. The film ranked at #21 for the week of September 13-19.
The staff for Trigger and XFlag's original anime film Promare confirmed at the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) that the film has earned more than 1.4 billion yen (about US$13 million) as of Wednesday morning.
Anime Limited has Tweeted that it will release Studio Trigger and XFlag's original film Promare on June 1, as both a Collectors Blu-ray/DVD and in standard Blu-ray and DVD editions. These home editions will contain the film in both dubbed and subtitled versions. Other content details are TBC.

GKIDS announced on Thursday that it will screen Trigger and XFLAG's Promare anime film in the United States once again, with English-subtitled screenings on April 7, and English-dubbed screenings on April 8. The new "complete" screenings will include the "Side: Galo" and "Side: Lio" prequel anime short as well as a message from director Hiroyuki Imaishi.
Anime Limited has announced more details about the upcoming home release of Studio Trigger and XFlag's original film Promare, scheduled for June 29.
The film will be released as a Collectors Blu-ray, as well as standard Blu-ray and DVD editions. The Collectors Blu-ray edition (pictured left) will contain the Original Soundtrack CD (21 tracks) with music by Hiroyuki Sawano. It will also contain a 128-page Script Book, containing the film's full script in English, adapted with the involvement of Studio Trigger.
The Collectors edition was previously planned as a Blu-ray/DVD, but this is now not the case.
