Another quick review of a movie that I did not had the time to review after watching it in the theater. The premise is about a really smart 4th-grade boy trying to discover why there are random penguins appearing in the park. With the help of his friends and older dentist friend (who he has a crush on), he finds himself deeper into a greater fantasy mystery. I really enjoy this movie as it shows the fun and hard work of discovering something new and encourage kids to think more critically. I am majoring in biology right now, and know full well how much stuff you expected to put in your lab notebook and to see this kid writing down all this information down and tackling these phenomena, made me want to try harder in my lab projects. I do like how they made a really smart kid that might easily come off as annoying and unrelatable, be a fun character that you do want to follow. The main character is smart, but he still is a kid inside. With the kid not knowing why he likes breast, not picking up on social cue, not understanding people problems, etc. I love how the kids in the movie are a right balance of feeling like a kid and while having some kid cliché that is a cliché for a reason and is fun. Making all the kids’ character, including the main character, likable. The dentist girl was also a fun character that had great chemistry with the main lead. Granted I do question why the family has no problem with their son spending time in a grown woman apartment. One thing people might not like is how nonsensical the plot gets as it progresses through the movie, as it is relatively tame, but get weirder and weirder, especially when you are mixing science and fantasy. I personally enjoy that because it does open the movie to more fun imagery and atmosphere, while also encouraging critical thinking. Granted the plot structuring could be a bit better, especially in one random scene dealing with death. One of my biggest gripe with the movie is the male gazing, where they just focus on the dentist's breast. I am not just talking about the scenes where the main character is looking at his older crush boobs, but when the camera is looking at her boobs when the main character isn’t. It takes me out of the movie as it just an unnecessary shot. Look, I love my fan service, I love my ass and breast shot, but just like anything, it has to be used correctly and fit with the show or movie. In here it just felt distracting, especially since the guy sitting next to me kept on saying mmmmh when they focus on her breast. The amount of time he said mmmmh was way too many, and encapsulate just how terrible the male gazing was in the movie. It does not help that the breast shot is done at important moments in the movie. That being said, overall the movie was an enjoyable time, and I definitely recommend giving this a watch. I give this a B+.
Old Man Dream: ...later titles in the Macross franchise can finally come stateside with all involved parties finally coming to a truce over how to handle things with the Macross trademark and all later anime in the franchise associated with it.

Taka: I see. A global release will benefit it. Gundam did pretty good. The only few franchises that are only popular in Japan but not popular in the west - Yokai Watch comes to mind.

Master Menos: F for Respects. DMX did all his work while suffering from a drug addiction, and I almost never knew until a point. I hope his next life treats him far better.
