Last time the series pulled this, it turned out to be a story teaser, but again, fans are getting their hopes up for an anime adaptation of Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga manga. The new October issue of Afternoon, the home manga magazine of the historical fiction, is teasing a Vinland Saga announcement, scheduled for September 25th's November issue.
Vinland Saga, Ponkotsu Quest Get Crossover Web Anime
The November issue of Kodansha's Afternoon magazine is announcing on September 25 that Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga manga is getting a collaborative web anime with VAP's web anime Ponkotsu Quest. VAP will post the "Pon Kotsuland Saga" anime to YouTube on October 24. The magazine is also revealing a key visual for the crossover anime.
The announcement reads: "This is a limited one-episode collaborative-like 'thing' linking Vinland Saga and 'that'." The collaborative anime will star Keisuke Matsumoto as all the characters. The characters, whose names are a combination of Vinland Saga and Ponkotsu Quest characters, include:
Kakufinn (pictured left in above image holding a sword) Imuladd (pictured above left on Kakufinn's head) Tsuchikell (pictured center as teddy bear) Kuronute (pictured below right with purple cloak) Jijōkotsu (or auditory ossicles, the small bones of the ear. Pictured bottom right)
Ponkotsu Quest previously produced a collaborative short anime with the live-action Gatchaman film. The Ponkotsu Quest anime features the following characters (listed from left to right in below image): Kuronuma, Tsuchida, Kaku, Imura, and Mitsui.
The official Twitter account of Kodansha Comics reported on Tuesday that the publisher could stop its English release of Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga manga after publishing the manga's seventh volume. The publisher asked fans to "please preorder and don't let this great series die!" The publisher explained that it hopes that it will "be able to license the next arc, but it's up in the air at the moment."
Kodansha Comics scheduled the seventh volume for December 29.
Yukimura launched the series in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 2005, but Kodansha moved the series to Afternoon later that year. Kodansha published the manga's 16th compiled volume in Japan in June. Kodansha Comics released the sixth omnibus volume of the manga in English on September 1.
I personally fell behind, but I chose not to read it since there is legal simulpub or legal streaming site for the manga online. Wished Kodansha put it on Crunchyroll. I did buy one volume, but it was pretty pricey given that they do it omnibus style for some reason.
I just report on news for all manga discussions just to breathe life into it.
We can talk about favorite characters or something aside from manga discussion.

If you ask me Askeladd is currently one of my favorite anti-heroes. Or perhaps it would be more proper to call him a villain? Not quite sure about it myself as he was rather grey besides that... certain event.
In light of Vinland Saga being published 150 times, the creator, Makoto Yukimura, is putting up used pen nibs for lucky fans
To celebrate the Vinland Saga manga being published in Kodansha's Afternoon magazine more than 150 times, a campaign is offering fans a chance to win one of 150 of creator Makoto Yukimura's used pen nibs. Fans can enter for a chance to win from May 25 to June 24.
Yukimura explained in a comment about the campaign that he uses G-pens to write the manga. After writing only four or five pages, the G-pen nibs become unusable, and he has to change them. The campaign is offering a total of 150 of Yukimura's used pen nibs in cases.
Fans can use a link on Afternoon's website to enter the contest. The used pen nibs will go out to winners in late July.
