Ban is the grandson and heir of the last and most powerful witch in history, the Witch Queen. From her, he had inherited the Evil Eye, the infamous Eye of Illusion feared for its terrible power throughout history. As such, he was hunted down by Voodooists for his power and pure witch blood ever since he was a child, casting on him the fading shadow of the European witch-hunts.
The Evil Eye (Fate Manipulation): The fabled Eye of Illusion. It grants Ban the power to show anyone who looks into his eyes a 1-minute long "illusion", the complexity and nature of which has no limit, and could even have physical effects on the body. It can only be used 3 times per 24 hours, and once on the same target within that time-window (meaning Ban can only show a given entity one "illusion" per 24 hours).
Note that although the "illusion" created lasts only 1 minute in real time, to the target, it could be as long as an hour or more. The Evil Eye is also not limited to one target per usage, it can affect several entities at once so long as they make eye contact with Ban. Said eyes could also exert its power through electronics, like monitors and cameras, and its influence is not limited to humans either, being able to affect any animal with eyes, from aquatic life, to insects, to avians.
Although first described as illusory, it was revealed at the end of the story that, in actuality, the Evil Eye's real power is to manipulate fate itself, in other words, it can control the fate of whatever looks into it for 1 minute (VS Akabane, GBTLT). The fate Ban chooses for his targets could be either amicable or horrible (see both feats sections for the application range, as it is too wide to detail).
The Evil Eye could see through all of a given target's memories. It also grants Ban the ability to see through illusions, like the ones generated by the Infinity Fortress' virtual reality system which works by altering brain signals (see thread #4 at the top), or the ones created by the Butterfly Clan's invisible butterflies (VS Saichou, Ban's Senses [The Eternal Bond]).
If Ban were to break the usage limit and activate the Evil Eye for the 4th time within a day, his very existence would be erased for good, even memories of him would vanish. Note however that this effect is gradual, not instantaneous, as it seems to take around 15 minutes or so for him to completely disappear, up to which he could still function normally. Also, the effects of the erasure could be delayed if Ban were to die, suspending his soul before it disappears, making it possible to undo the penalty and restore him with the right tools.
Asclepius (Fate Immunity + Constellation Empowerment + Other Powers) & Techniques: Born under the constellation of Ophiuchus, much like his father and grandmother, Ban hosts within him the power of Asclepius, The Serpent-Bearer, cursing him from birth with a fate rife with misfortune, and a grotesque, demonic right arm that saps away his lifespan.
Due to his affinity with Ophiuchus, Ban was born with an unnaturally strong body, being able to break an adult man's nose as a baby. As a mere child, his grip strength was equal to 200 kg/cm2, and as he grew older, he concentrated on developing the power of his grip, creating the infamous Snake Bite technique.
The power of Asclepius manifests itself around Ban as an astral image of a serpent or a dragon.
Fate Immunity: Asclepius has the power to "sever the ties of fate" (VS Lightning Lord, VS Takuma Fudou).
This was first seen in his battle against Fudou The Seer, who could see up to 3 seconds into the future. Even though Fudou looked into the future and saw Ban lying on the floor in defeat at his own hands, Ban invoked Asclepius and defied his vision, defeating him instead.
The nature of this power became evident when Ginji, as the Lightning Lord, collapsed space-time then turned back time around himself, wholly regressing back to being a young teenager, when he first turned into the Lightning Lord, before he met Ban (and thus had no memories of him). This confrontation between himself and the Lightning Lord was fated by the Archiver, as they were destined to fight each other at full power to become a key to open Heaven's Door (see thread #4 at the top). And yet, as soon as Ban held him with his Demon Arm, the temporal rewind was undone, and Ginji reverted back to an adult with all memories of Ban intact.
Spell of Asclepius (Constellation Empowerment): Ban can summon pure power from his constellation with the following chant:
"Now, in thy right hand... until thy cursed fate ends... thou wilt host Asclepius, who comes from the cosmos... I shall give thee strength... now be devoured... by the poisoned fangs of the Serpent!"
After reaching his full potential, said chant changed to:
"I shall become the herald of Asclepius... only he who accepts that accursed fate... shall receive the power of the highest heaven, and the deepest hell... that lay hidden within thy venomous fangs... thus, let thy hammer fall upon the heads of the foolish... with all the wrath of a Demon God!"
This could achieve a variety of effects (detailed below), but most notably, it dramatically increases Ban's strength and speed, which usually allows him to end a fight against an opponent with a single attack.
Snake Bite: Ban's signature attack, a strike characterised by a grip of inhuman strength, capable of tearing off flesh and limbs with total ease. Ban has a few variations of this technique:
Version 1 - Rather than a melee attack, Ban strikes with the previously mentioned astral image of the serpent/dragon, dealing physical damage to his opponents from afar.
Version 2 - Generates a massive explosion of energy with the Snake Bite by invoking Asclepius.
Version 3 - A direct attack remotely projected onto an opponent's body, ignoring distance and any differences in speed, leaving them no possibility to dodge, achieved by invoking the power of the Ophiuchus constellation.
Demon Arm: The cursed right arm Ban was born with, characterised by a demonic appearance. It further increases his strength, and with the Spell of Asclepius, it gives him the power to tear through dimensions and Logic Walls.
At first, releasing the arm was painful for Ban, as it shortened his lifespan. However, this was no longer an issue after he defeated its curse.
Angel Arm: This is the purified form of the Demon Arm, achieved when Ban had defeated its curse, characterised by an angel wing manifested over his right shoulder.
As Ban had learnt to passively draw out his latent power via Asclepius, he no longer needs to invoke the Serpent-Bearer to achieve his full strength when using the Angel Arm.
With it, Ban could create explosions of energy, and convert the power of his attacks into pure heat, generating massive bursts of flames.
Elemental Interaction: Ban has the mysterious power to interact with the elements as if they were solid, being able to swat away and slice apart wind and electricity.
Heat Resistance: Ban's body could resist extreme heat with minimal damage (VS Lightning Lord), as he endured being bathed in plasma by the Lightning Lord in their fight, and plasma burns at a minimum temperature of 10,000 degrees kelvin (references: 1, 2).
Houjutsu (Logic Manipulation): Ban is capable of, to a limited extent, manipulating the very logic of reality itself, its "rules" and "laws" (see the Beltline section within thread #4 linked at the top).
He has first demonstrated this power in his confrontation with a Beltline monster, named "Help", whose existence was in turn maintained purely by a powerful line of logic that acted as a substitute for its lack of a soul [i.e. Houjutsu], rendering it invincible and immortal (VS Help).
Verschwinde Geist: Ban banished Help's "soul" back to the Archiver with this logic spell, and could have erased it from existence if he so wished.
That spell overpowered the Houjutsu, i.e. the line of logic, maintaining said entity, erasing it from this world.
Combat Style & Info: Ban is a veritable combat genius in every sense of the word.
Due to his life being targeted from birth as the last pure-blood heir of a witch, Ban spent his childhood intensively studying martial arts, magic, curses, medicine, chemistry, physics, etc. He was already fighting the superhuman Voodooists/Shamans on a constant basis, as a young boy no older than 7, spending the formative years of his life on the run, fighting for survival (Ban's Past).
As such, forced by his unfortunate circumstances, and combined with his natural talents, Ban became a force to be reckoned with as a fighter, skilled, experienced, and intelligent far beyond his age, capable of defeating warriors with hundreds of years worth of experience (VS Dokubachi).
In battle, he utilises his uncanny agility (with which he can create afterimages and shockwaves) and strength to overwhelm opponents, aiming for their weak points and vitals with simultaneous combination attacks (he can combine at least 300 strikes in an instant (VS Akabane, GBTLT) using his Snake Bite to deadly effect - VS Dokubachi, VS Captain Blood), while analytically formulating counters to their fighting style and special powers. His movements continuously deceive the combat instincts of his opponents by constant incorporation of feints and blind-spot capitalisation, making his attacks difficult to predict (VS Akabane [The Lost Arms of The Goddess], VS Dokubachi).
When backed into a corner, Ban would vastly boost his power and speed by invoking The Serpent-Bearer, Asclepius, usually defeating the opposition then with a single strike.
Ban's intelligence is a particularly dangerous quality of his. When he fought Kirihito, the Scarlet Spider (VS Kirihito), he instantly saw through his spider web constriction technique by walking on the top side of said web, where it isn't adhesive. Facing Natsuhiko's invisible air-slashes, he intentionally received the attacks (while only allowing them to land shallowly via his Sixth Sense) in order to grasp the nature of his technique (VS Natsuhiko Miroku). In his battle with Kagami (VS Kyoji Kagami), he figured out the complex principle behind his mirror-based powers (the Magic Mirror Effect (see thread #3 at the top)), and cast a "reverse-curse" on himself that resulted in Kagami tearing off his own arm by attacking a reflection of himself.
He never fights without a plan, always thinking several steps ahead, and is not above including traps in his strategies, as he did when he momentarily fooled Akabane (VS Akabane, The Lost Arms of The Goddess) into thinking he had used the Evil Eye on him by preparing life-like rubber dolls made in his own likeness along with a cassette player he had planted in the area beforehand.
Ban also likes to taunt and mock an opponent to trick them into dropping their guard for even just an instant, in other words, he's a "dirty fighter" so to speak.
Extrasensory Perception: Ban possess supernatural senses, honed by years of fighting. He can sense blood-lust and the Qi/Ki of living beings from great distances (which also allows him to assess their physical condition), even capable of distinguishing the flow of Ki belonging to one person from another.
He also seems to share a telepathic link with Ginji, being able to feel and "listen" to his emotions.
Sixth Sense (see thread #2 at the top): Acquired after observing Paul Wan, Ban has the ability to subconsciously read an opponent's movements with great accuracy, focus solely on their presence, and exclude all extraneous movements, optimising his combat performance, reacting by instinct and exerting only the least amount of energy required to execute each move.
Magic (Attack Reflection + Summoning):
Ban has studied magic extensively as a child, and was reluctantly taught by his grandmother, the Witch Queen, in witchcraft. Although, he seems to resents his heritage, and prefers not to use magic in lieu of hand-to-hand combat, but he has displayed a couple of spells.
Summoning: Manifests a swarm of snake-like monsters onto an opponent, tearing off their limbs (VS Help).
Reverse-Curse: Reflects the damage dealt to him by an opponent onto them (VS Kyoji Kagami).
The feats have been sorted into two sections, one showcasing both combat & Evil Eye capabilities, and the other showcasing nothing but Evil Eye capabilities.
Dream: Last anime I will be covering is Gankutsuou: Count of Monte Cristo. Will start watching it tomorrow. Not sure how much longer I can keep myself up at this point.

Taka: Depending on my energy, I can watched up to 2 AM. Usually with work, I fall asleep on anime series that don't have a lot of action.

Master Menos: Finally got out of the fast food job. It was a graceful exit, but to be honest, I'll miss some of those guys. Got a sprained ankle from it since September, so I'll finally focus on healing that back at the family home.

HungryWorld: Well if anyone remembers what happened to Pingu in the City, with it being joke 10/10 scored on MAL just to get it into the top 10 anime... well now is Ishuzoku Reviewers' turn. Seems that in response to Funimation's cancel people boosted the score hard.
Feb 11, 2020 2:11:38 GMT
Taka: What? That sounds so weird.
Feb 11, 2020 5:36:23 GMT
Master Menos: It's damn awesome to be honest. It shot to 1st Place!

Dream: On the subject of MAL, it looks like the admin are planning to tweak their scoring system for titles to reduce the likelihood of voters artificially inflating the ranking of certain titles.
Feb 13, 2020 22:47:26 GMT
Master Menos: My V-Day present will be belated this year because I "Had some trouble with ol' Johnny." (That's your hint.)
Feb 15, 2020 4:17:13 GMT
Dream: The joys of adulthood. Joking aside, plan to at least attempt to wrap up Gankutsuou sometime early to mid next week so I can get done with my Funi voted titles. Afterward, not doing any more voting for a while considering how long this had been taking.
Feb 15, 2020 16:50:30 GMT
Dream: Done with Gankutsuou. Will be working to get a review up for it by sometime tonight.
Feb 16, 2020 20:57:26 GMT
Taka: Great job, Dream! I should do some reviews, too.
Feb 17, 2020 5:24:39 GMT
Dream: Looks like MAL's currently down due to the site getting hit by a major denial-of-service attack, just as a heads up.
Feb 18, 2020 17:55:23 GMT
Taka: I added 2 polls tonight. Also, I wonder why MAL was down. Crunchyroll also had it, too.
Feb 20, 2020 4:05:24 GMT
Dream: Not sure about Crunchyroll. For MAL, the DoS attacks may have been retaliation by those who dabbled into manipulating the site's scoring system for certain anime titles. The admin on MAL announced they would be overhauling the system to prevent said...
