Studio: Toei Animation Adaptation: Original Genres: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Kids, Fantasy Episodes: ? Release Date: Apr 5, 2020 to ? Streaming: Crunchyroll,
Plot: It's the year 2020. The Network has become something humans can no longer do without in their daily lives. But what humans don't know is that on the other side of the Network is the Digital World, a realm of light and darkness. Nor are they aware of the Digimon who live there. Widespread Network difficulties arise, centered around the Tokyo area. Traffic signals blink chaotically, public outdoor TVs display garbled text, and so on. The news reports it as a case of cyberterrorism. Fifth grader Taichi Yagami stayed home by himself to get ready for a weekend summer camp, but his mother and little sister Hikari went to Shibuya, and now they're aboard a runaway train. Taichi hurries to Shibuya to save his mother and sister, but the instant he heads toward the station platform... a strange phenomenon befalls the DigiDestined, and Taichi goes to the Digital World! The DigiDestined meet their partner Digimon, and they're faced with an adventure into the unknown...!
I just realized after watching this episode, it gave vibes to the original Digimon movie. Not exact same stuff but we are dealing with an evil Digimon who is doing cyberterrorism and Matt/Tai combined their Digimon to wipe him out. Albeit we don't have a huge audience of children watching and cheering or something.
The official websites for Toei Animation's Digimon Adventure: reboot anime and the Healin' Good Precure anime both announced on Monday that they will delay further episodes due to the spread of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) . The Digimon Adventure: anime was scheduled to air its fourth episode on April 26, but the same timeslot will now air a rerun of the recenty concluded GeGeGe no Kitarō anime (another Toei Animation series).
It's interesting they start off with a smaller group and add more people compared to the old series where we start off with a large group. Our newest member (who made a debut earlier) is Sora whom has the spotlight in this episode.
Biyomon (Piyomon as Crunchyroll calls her) is attacked by Snimon. The two quickly become acquainted and we see Birdramon. The kids don't have complete control of digivolution. It's emotionally driven.
This is Mimi's introduction episode - I hate to say this but this is the strongest introduction episode compared to Izzy (Ep 5 even though he debut earlier) Sora (Ep 4 - she debut early but didn't have a big role like Izzy's)
It shows Mimi's backstory which I don't think we ever saw her grandpa in the original series. She still has her flaws, bossy side, but the episode shows her good side, protecting her kingdom of Tanemon.
The episode goes into detail of how time flow differs between Digimon and human world.
An episode about Joe. He was the studious type. Just like in season 1, he doesn't want to get involved and wants to focus on studying. The 2020 anime goes in deeper with revealing he's from a family of doctors and that he's going to be like his family, a doctor.
Gomamon's move is Marching Fishes. I think in the dub it's Fish Power?
The kids arrive at the continent where they spot a military base guarding the beach. They reunite with Matt. I like how Gabumon knows Matt is a kind person despite Matt being cold and calling the group dead weight.
I feel like we haven't touch upon ultimate stage. I think some of these Digimon were Ultimate state. The kids' Digimon at Champion level are beating them.
Biggest and obvious highlight was Ogremon and Greymon's fight. I don't think I see a lot of melee battles with a focus on hand to hand combat like this one here. Most of the time, Digimon uses special moves instead of melee attacks.
The episode fleshes out Ogremon who seems to resemble Leomon from the old season 1 anime. Ogremon is about pride and single combat.
I was wrong. We had our first Ultimate Digimon in this episode. Things are progressing quickly in terms of power.
Slightly better than Ep 13 with establishing a problem to the character that is fit and challenging enough - Izzy has to rely on his own knowledge instead of his laptop.
Unlike Sora's episode where Matt had his Ultimate evolution and cannot beat Sora's enemy due to the enemy being in the sky, Tai and Metalgreymon could easily taken out Kuwagamon and Kuwagamon's ultimate form. Tai's Digimon can fly.
Marks the debut of Zudomon. This episode is better than Sora's Garudamon debut episode because it takes out Matt along with Sora, isolating Joe and Gomamon. Joe's crest is reliability. He takes on the enemy to prevent them from reaching the fire place where Matt had transported and watched over Sora who is recovering from being almost freeze over.
Old Man Dream: ...later titles in the Macross franchise can finally come stateside with all involved parties finally coming to a truce over how to handle things with the Macross trademark and all later anime in the franchise associated with it.

Taka: I see. A global release will benefit it. Gundam did pretty good. The only few franchises that are only popular in Japan but not popular in the west - Yokai Watch comes to mind.

Master Menos: F for Respects. DMX did all his work while suffering from a drug addiction, and I almost never knew until a point. I hope his next life treats him far better.
