I felt compelled to write about Gatchaman Crowds/Insight even though I have a pretty full slate, but because I rather liked it, here's nothing. A joint review of Gatchaman Crowds and it's second season Gatchaman Crowds Insight.
Here's the main premise of the series in a nutshell. Specific entities are sought out by the mysterious being J.J., who bestows upon them the powers and responsibilities of Gatchaman. The chosen ones thenceforth are able to don special armors that bring out the unique abilities of the individual. The Gatchaman are tasked with being modern day heroes for humanity. Haajime Ichinose, our main heroine is sought out from the very beginning of the series to perform such a role. Hajime is an easy-going carefree young lady to the extreme. She seems to know no negativity. Her personality is hard to accept for many including her newfound comrades (the other Gatchamen) at first but later on it becomes her more likable trait.
Hajime is quickly found and brought into the G-team. Her comrades consist of alien veteran Gatchaman O.D. and Paimon (the leader), as well as 3 human allies Sugane Tachibana, Joe Hibiki and Ustu-tsu Miya. Each has some unique power to offer. They all get along relatively well but Hajime's unique ways get om the nerves of the majority of her new comrades. But that was the least of their concerns. The notorious ad powerful alien known as Berg-Katze had been covertly causing havok among the human populace in Japan. While it is the job of the Gatchamen to assist in lesser issues, Berg-Katze is the dominant threat they must deal with.
Season Two (Insight) holds a similar premise. With most of the cast reappearing but with newer challenges and a few new friendly faces including a future Gatchaman. In this season the Gatchamen involve themselves more deeply into politics and less in the way of action albeit they are unable to avoid conflict entirely. At points they must take to arms and this leads to a rather troublesome scenario which ultimately ends rather surprisingly.
What caught my attention for both seasons of Gatchaman were 1. the characters. Most of the main cast could be considered likable and they are each very unique to one another in appearance, personality and abilities 2. The tone. While Gatchaman has a light tone most of the time, even during action scenes, it can and does betray expectations at times with not horribly but surprisingly violent moments. It also delves into the world of philosophy and politics and how human beings as a race are ultimately responsible for most all the good and bad that befalls them collectively as one. And 3. The animation style was something I wasn't quite used to. To say it was Kill la Kill/Gurren Lagann-like may not be fair but not far off in my opinion.
I know this wasn't very detail orientated but I tried my best while pressed for time while trying to avoid spoilers. But in short, Gatchaman gets a stamp of approval from me. I give it a solid rating of 8/10.
Everyone is doing reviews for the Summer 2015 season. I should join in but I'm so bad at writing.
Love Gatchaman Crowds Insight. It got a strong ending. Shame other shows start off strong and ended weak (Rokka and Gangsta). The hair style was an interesting part of the art style when I first try the show back in season 1. Agreed, it was light on action but it deliver well during the fight scenes.
Themes of the show is recommended for those who love politics and philosophy.
Taka: I see. A global release will benefit it. Gundam did pretty good. The only few franchises that are only popular in Japan but not popular in the west - Yokai Watch comes to mind.

Master Menos: F for Respects. DMX did all his work while suffering from a drug addiction, and I almost never knew until a point. I hope his next life treats him far better.
