Note: This is part of the XIV Days of Darkness reviewing mini-series. This review is for Day III and contains no spoilers.
Gangsta. is a 12-episode crime-action series on a pair called "The Handymen" whom take assassination cases around Ergastulum that are too much for anyone else to handle. They take in an apparent witness to one of their jobs as an assistant instead of snuffing her out. From there on, they get caught up in a rather hazardous war.
Storyline The pacing for the show was not too hard to get used to when watching the show, but it did help with the development of the city (and how corrupt it can be), the characters involved overall (especially with most flashbacks) and explain the war between the "Twilights" (people whom have superhuman abilities by taking special drugs) and the three laws that affect them as it goes on. The story progressed finely until around Episode 10, where things took an sidetracked and disappointing turn.
Characters The main trio happen to have been the most developed out of the rest of the cast, which was quite forgettable on the most part, despite a lot of them being introduced in the first two episodes. Worick and Nicholas have the best handled development of the entire show with Alex as a third, despite being a near pointless fanservice character outside of her development.
Pros and Cons The setting is a very interesting one for anime in general and it managed to mesh well with most of everything else here. The battles were very interesting on the most part and the animation was decent here. The musical score was very good and well-fitting for the entire show. The small amount of humor that the show has managed to work out just fine, even for a serious show.
Sadly, this brings little to the table for veterans of the crime-drama/action genre for anime as there are some that manage to be much better than this one. Speaking of executions, the ending to the show was one of the worst non-endings that I have seen to date, even for endings to anime with a "read the manga" approach. The additional events and characters from the 9th or 10th episode onwards seemed like most of their patches were left alone, especially after the ending was seen.
Final Verdict This gets a 4/10 overall. While this show did keep things interesting, it was unfortunately headed for disaster when it had gotten good for a good amount of time. For those just starting to get into more serious series, you may see this for yourselves but there are better examples of the seinen sub-genre than this.
Current Situation: I wanted another excuse to use Enterprise as an avatar again.
While the other two anime you just review are not consider good, I mean I still enjoy Valkyrie Drive, but at the same time I understand that is at best below average as it doesn't explore the plot it was giving and focus more on fan service. Gangsta in my opinion is not bad, just a bit disappointing, but not at the same level of Tokyo Ghoul. As you stated it was good, they had great world building with unique characters. Is not often that you get a deaf mc and a former male prostitute as the other mc. While the last few episode were a mess as they focus on the organization which most people could not care for, and try to add various of sub-plot, it does become disinterested. Also the last episode felt more like they was going to have the next episdoe ready, but couldn't because of money problem, which considering they are bankrupt it would not surprised me XD. That being said I don't think the bad outweighs the good, and I honestly can't said is a bad anime. Is one of those anime where I really can't join in the hate similar to the first half of SAO (second half however I can agree that it sucks). I personally agree with Dream review more.
Gangsta. had potential and a great cast, but the story telling kind of went south after a few episodes. I find the ending inconclusive and doesn't motivate folks to keep watching or even check out the manga. I don't hate the show.
Disagreed with Jgames here:
I wouldn't compare the show to Tokyo Ghoul or Sword Art Online. It's more akin to Jormungand and Black Lagoon especially Jormungand who had similar issues with its ending.
The ending will piss off some folks.
For 2015, you had shows Gangsta. and Charlotte which had potential but disappointed expectations. It's that type of shows.
Old Man Dream: ...later titles in the Macross franchise can finally come stateside with all involved parties finally coming to a truce over how to handle things with the Macross trademark and all later anime in the franchise associated with it.

Taka: I see. A global release will benefit it. Gundam did pretty good. The only few franchises that are only popular in Japan but not popular in the west - Yokai Watch comes to mind.

Master Menos: F for Respects. DMX did all his work while suffering from a drug addiction, and I almost never knew until a point. I hope his next life treats him far better.
