Note: This is part of the XIV Days of Darkness reviewing mini-series. This review is for Day V and contains no spoilers.
Red Garden is an 22-episode dark drama thriller about a quartet of teenage girls that are forced to fight monster-like humans to the death after being told that the girls were already dead by a strange woman. From there on, more of their true purpose of it all is uncovered with each passing night.
Storyline The story's pacing is rather slow, but as the episodes go on and the girls are uncovering the truth about their deaths and their sudden main mission at hand, it turns out to be a deep tale that ends up invoking more interests with each passing plot twist and resulted in becoming rather satisfying and touching. This is a bonus if a viewer is also into dark and serious stories.
Characters The first major pro is the main and important side characters and how well each of them ended up developing. No only do they manage to stand out among each other, they end up being useful on the most part. Half of the main characters (Rachael and especially Rose) had to take some getting used to, but near the other half of the show, all four characters ended up being much more likable.
Pros and Cons The second major pro was the art style and animation as it meshes completely well with the main setting of New York City and is still unlike a lot of anime after about 10 years (as of this review). The musical score is very good and was very fitting for the show (especially the second ending theme) and the battles are great as well. Both English dubbed and Japanese subbed versions are shockingly well done here.
As for the cons, the biggest one was the "singing" for the English dub because a lot of it ends up feeling and sounding quite awkward on everyone involved for most of them (in comparison, the Japanese dub never had this problem). Also, the American pop culture references that are laced into the English dub on the humorous side of this show can go over some viewers' heads. The show's slow pace may sadly put off some viewers too.
Final Verdict This is still a very good show overall after over 10 years and for that it gets an 9/10. Definitely not for everyone, but for those that like their characters well developed and like thrillers with a deceiving look like this show can enjoy this with hardly any problems.
Current Situation: I wanted another excuse to use Enterprise as an avatar again.
Old Man Dream: ...later titles in the Macross franchise can finally come stateside with all involved parties finally coming to a truce over how to handle things with the Macross trademark and all later anime in the franchise associated with it.

Taka: I see. A global release will benefit it. Gundam did pretty good. The only few franchises that are only popular in Japan but not popular in the west - Yokai Watch comes to mind.

Master Menos: F for Respects. DMX did all his work while suffering from a drug addiction, and I almost never knew until a point. I hope his next life treats him far better.
