Note: This is part of the XIV Days of Darkness reviewing mini-series. This review is for Day XIV and contains severe spoilers. Your discretion has been advised. ...Or not.
School Days is a 12-episode drama and romance/seinen series about a jilted guy that managed to get set up with his crush with help from his classmate. After some awkward dating between the two main characters, the matchmaker at hand ends up making things spiral out of control during her supposed teachings.
Storyline To be honest, this entire storyline feels completely empty, especially the romantic parts that went at a very slow pace before it all went downhill from Episode 5 onwards. Even all the implied sex scenes felt empty. The only not-so-empty part was the 12th episode despite it being one of the most spoiled endings in anime. The drama elements did work on some parts, however.
Characters Absolutely everyone is literally a scumbag here after a point in the series with the three biggest ones being two of the three main characters: Sekai for starting Makoto's cheating onwards (especially after setting him up with his crush and everything she's done for Kotonoha) and Makoto for said cheating spree (dude ran through pretty much the entire female student body, but due to the circumstances displayed here, this is not considered a pro). In fact, he's been a problem throughout the whole show before he gets set up with Kotonoha. Nobody ends up being redeemable by the end of the show either, even through Makoto and Sekai's infamous deaths.
Pros and Cons I feel that there's only two other pros to point out here and that's the animation (which was good) and this also works as a cautionary tale of cheating on your significant other and lying to them about it.
I already revealed a lot of cons here, but time to reveal a few more. The fanservice contained feels rather pointless, the extremely immense OST is really bland and poor-sounding and I can't help but to think that this feels rather dated with the heavy cell phone usage present. Definitely not for those who want to see a meaningful romance or even a decently meaningful harem situation.
Final Verdict Yeah, this one gets a 1/10 from me. It was no fun at all. There are much better examples of drama and romance anime than this one, but if you still just want to see it for the ending after the spoilerfest here, just skip to the final episode. You'll thank yourself later.
Current Situation: I wanted another excuse to use Enterprise as an avatar again.
Master Menos, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy School Days, those who dislike it despise it from the core. It's basically the anime equivalent of soap opera, albeit much more gory than most. I think it did well for what it wanted. Not that I enjoyed it (Im a vanilla romance person)
Taka: I see. A global release will benefit it. Gundam did pretty good. The only few franchises that are only popular in Japan but not popular in the west - Yokai Watch comes to mind.

Master Menos: F for Respects. DMX did all his work while suffering from a drug addiction, and I almost never knew until a point. I hope his next life treats him far better.
