The Lost Village Alias: Mayoiga Genres: Drama, Mystery Studio: Diomedea Premiere Date: April 1, 2016 Episode Count: ? Adaptation: Original Streaming: Crunchyroll,
Plot: 30 young men and women who came together on a shady bus tour. The tour's destination: an illusive, possibly nonexistent village called Nanakimura. In Nanakimura, one can lead a utopian existence, free of the world's obstacles … or so it was rumored, like an urban legend. "In despair over the real world ... wanting to escape the tedious daily life … wanting to restart your life from scratch…" The bus headed deep into the mountains, carrying 30 people each harboring their own expectations and wounds in their hearts… And so, the place these 30 arrived at, was an uninhabited village with the lingering faint scents of life, even though it was falling apart.
Ayaka Shimizu (Sasameki Koto's Masaki Akemiya) as Maimai, a 17-year-old student who confessed to the guy she liked but was totally rejected.
Ai Kakuma (Aldnoah.Zero's Nina Klein) as Lovepon, a 15-year-old girl who does not get along with her dad.
Kosuke Miyoshi (My Hero Academia's Mashirao Ojiro) as Jack, a 16-year-old boy with a mysterious past. He is receiving treatment for a tumor from his family.
Yoshiaki Hasegawa (Hundred's Hayato Kisaragi) as Yura Mikage, a 24-year-old trading company employee who is on track for high positions.
Konomi Tada (Girls und Panzer's Karina Sakaguchi) as Nanko, a 17-year-old great detective whose perceptions and reactions are a little different from those around her, but she conceals a lot of talent.
Tons of characters got introduced. Felt the conflict was forced in. I'm not sure whether to continue watching it. I like the theme songs, good powerful music for the spring. Too bad, this pilot was messy. I know one dude is going to get killed.
The only reason to keep watching is to see what unintentionally hilarious thing happens next. I mean was the ending supposed to be funny? That eye was really creepy! Did the previous residents turn into weird monsters, or is this some weird looking bear?
Valkana seems to be the only "likable" character since his logic makes the most sense, which isn't saying much since Lovepon just wants to execute everyone.
We're seeing character's "tragic" backstories, so Mitsumune must be worse off then because his personality seems to be the main thing driving the conflict.
The official website for The Lost Village (Mayoiga) anime announced on Saturday that the series will get a novel with an original story. Tsukasa Tsuchiya (Steins;Gate 0) is writing the original story and Kei is providing the illustrations. The novel will ship on August 17.
The "tender, heartrending story" will focus on Lion and [Highlight white text to read spoilers for the television anime] the origin of her ability to foresee death. A second volume will focus on Koharun's past.

Taka: I remember watching Devils' Line. I can't remember any issues I had. I have to look at my comments.

Old Man Dream: One of those familiar vampire stories in a modern setting where the male lead hates himself because of his vampiric nature and is in love with a human woman. The execution of the whole story is pretty clumsy and from what I gather, the anime is...

Old Man Dream: ...rushing through 40 chapters of manga material to fit into 12 anime episodes. Definitely shows with how quickly it's creaming through events, with the main couple being bland between angsty male vampire and the human female devoted to him.

Old Man Dream: Besides that plot, said male lead's involved with a secret government agency tasked with controlling vampires that give into their bloodlust.

Old Man Dream: And adding more insult to injury, the new Injustice animated movie is a big mess.

Taka: I read through my comments. Bloodlust and rapes along with innuendos. The romance I never mentioned of - with the details you mentioned - I remembered now it was pretty bad.

Old Man Dream: I'm thankfully pretty far in the series. Just have 3 more episodes, which I should get taken care of by tomorrow evening. Kind of regret thinking this would be a good title to dabble into for Halloween.

Taka: Didn't catch the Injustice movie. Waiting for it to be digitally available. That's a shame.

Old Man Dream: The movie got leaked online a week early before its release date. The negative reception to it, especially with how regarded the comic book and video game versions of Injustice are, got me curious to see how bad it was. I won't spoil things unlike most...

Taka: That is a shame considering they split Long Halloween into two parts. I guess with Injustice, you are appealing to 3 groups: the video game folks, the comic book folks, and then the new fans.

Old Man Dream: It sounds like you're assuming the games and comics run separate stories. The video game series serves as the main story of the franchise, while the comics serve as prequel or interquel to expand on and fill in the details on events that weren't...

Taka: Thanks for the correction. For some reason I thought the video game was loosely based on the comic books and treated the two as separate stories. With fighting games, I assumed they had more flexibility due to different endings.
