Hideo Suzuki is a thirty-five year old mangaka assistant struggling to be the hero in his own life by breaking back into the lime light with a new serial all the while juggling his relationship with his girlfriend and his own delusions. However, as hard as Hideo may try, the world seems to have a different set of plans for him; sinister and dark machinations that completely overturn his reality as he knows it.
The Art is absolutely amazing especially the color pages here and there. Even though the story is a generic zombie apocalypse its still extremely interesting. The main character also has hallucinations which make for some strange pages. Even if the main character didn't hallucinate the story is still really weird and quite unsettling. Here are some pictures that might pique your interest.
Odd, I don't see a Wikipedia profile. I had to check both MyAnimeList and Baka Updates. I did see Dark Horse licensing it as of May 2015. That's fairly recent. Now, I learn Dark Horse Comics doesn't do online streaming compared to Viz Media and Kodansha companies.
I see it's fairly successful. 4 million copies sold in Japan. It has a live action feature coming up.
This franchise might have an anime in the works, too. If it's that popular. How unfortunate, Dark Horse is still in the physical manga business.
The official website of Shogakukan's Yawaraka Spirits online magazine published the last chapter of Kensuke Nishida's I am a Hero in Nagasaki spinoff manga on October 20. The Nagasaki-based spinoff of Kengo Hanazawa's psychological zombie thriller manga I am a Hero launched on March 28.
In Hanazawa's original manga, Hideo is an aspiring manga creator who once struggled with discontent with his assistant artist job and his relationship with his girlfriend — until people started turning into undead "ZQN" creatures overnight. After he is attacked by his ZQN virus-infected girlfriend "Tekko," Hideo flees the overrun Tokyo metropolis with the shotgun he happens to own as a hobby. He travels with Hiromi, a high school girl whom he meets by chance, and they face the desperate situation with the help of a nurse named Yabu at a shopping mall.
Hanazawa launched the manga in Shogakukan's Big Comic Spirits magazine in 2009. Shogakukan released the manga's 21st compiled book volume on October 28. The manga's compiled book volumes have over 4 million copies in print. An NHK television program revealed in March that the manga was approaching its climax, but did not provide a definitive date for the manga's conclusion. Dark Horse Comics is releasing the original manga in North America.
Next year's sixth issue of Shogakukan's Big Comic Spirits magazine is announcing on Saturday that Kengo Hanazawa's I am a Hero zombie horror manga will resume in the seventh issue on January 16 after going on a brief hiatus in November. The manga will then end in seven chapters.
