Welcome to the ReLIFE review. It's going to be short and it won't contain any spoilers.
ReLIFE is about Kaizaki Arata who is currently unemployed and is at a dead end in life as he cannot find a job after quitting his company due to a traumatic event (which I cannot explain in detail due to spoilers). He is approached by Ryou Yoake whom offers him a chance to reset and restart his life with a wonder drug as part of the ReLife Research Institute experiment.
Your main protagonist who takes part of the experiment and relives high school again.
She's a smart girl who lacks social conventions. She doesn't express emotions and has no friends until she meets Arata.
He's the man who offers to Arata to partake in the ReLife experiment. He also takes the drug to blend in as a student in order to observe and report on Arata as well as keep Arata to abide by the rules, to keep the experiment a secret.
A member of the volleyball team who has feelings for someone I can't reveal due to spoilers. She recently lost her class rep position to Chizuru due to Chizuru having higher scores. Keep that in mind because the two will have an interesting relationship.
He's a smart guy, top of his class, and just like Chizuru, he's a class rep. He's a bit naive and oblivious when it comes to romance. I can't say anymore due to spoilers.
A mysterious transfer student. I can't say much due to spoilers. She befriends Arata as both of them have failing grades and seek tutor help from Chizuru and Oga.
The show's animation isn't that special as it's just a regular animation. Bit of small budget. Some characters may look like others which happen to me when I mix them up. The music is the show's bigger strength than its animation. I remember Wraith told me how they change the songs in the ending credits and these songs are from 10 years ago. That was an awesome fact. The drama and story that envelops our characters is damn relatable and can be downright depressing. I don't remember if the comedic scenes come out at weird times. There are shows that ruin the tense mood with random comedic scenes in an effort to lighten things up.
Romance is a secondary part and double edge sword as it can feel forced and contrived as you see how things unfold into a messy diagram. Most slice of life, high school shows have romance. It's nothing new. In fact, it's pretty a big tease as the romance didn't get far to fruition in this show.
This anime is really special to me because I don't like slice of life shows. I want to watch anime and not be reminded me of things that hit home too close for me as a way to escape life. This show just kills me. I did wish it started in college instead of high school. That was one of my cons for it to be a bit different and set itself apart from every other slice of life, high school show. Then again, high school and college have their different events since high school has more involvement with students in Japan. I'm not really sure since in my experience, I got involved in tutoring and research lab for college. Way more active than high school. That might not sound exciting.
One important thing to tend this review is that this show explores a big issue for many adults, finding your calling and also, corruptness in the work force. The show explores black companies where people are forced to work overtime without pay. People are subjected to harassment. In Japan, people don't get fire, but they are pressure to resign instead. It's pretty brutal.
I don't score shows in my reviews anymore since I find it arbitrary. I would give it an 8 out of 10.
Thank you everyone for reading this review. I hope if this show is up your alley, I hope you enjoy it. This show isn't for everyone. It has a lot of potential.
Taka: I see. A global release will benefit it. Gundam did pretty good. The only few franchises that are only popular in Japan but not popular in the west - Yokai Watch comes to mind.

Master Menos: F for Respects. DMX did all his work while suffering from a drug addiction, and I almost never knew until a point. I hope his next life treats him far better.
