Blood-C is a 12-episode psychological action/horror anime series that is the third addition to the Blood: The Last Vampire franchise. This time, Saya Kisaragi must wield a sacred sword to eliminate a group of monsters called Elder Barins from wreaking havoc across her village. However, there is more to the monsters and the village as it seems...
Storyline This is a standalone series in terms of plot, unlike the previous two members of the "Blood" Franchise, so viewers won't have to get through the previous two iterations to get this one. However, the plot happens to be very slow to get and gets to a standstill until about halfway through the series when Saya starts obtaining some hints through the Elder Barins that she defeats. After a point where the day and night cycle of monster killing is broken is where a rather shockingly meaningful twist occurs and ends up being for the better when things got very dodgy. All of this led to a decent end result that could've gotten worse but thankfully didn't while it wasn't too meaningful either.
Characters Saya is a mixed bag here with her cutesy demeanor during times that she is in school, singing terribly (Seriously, her singing sucks with ice on both the Japanese and English dubbed versions with the Japanese dub sucking less.) or is taking a break in a cafe she frequents and when she has to kill any Elder Barins nearby. The better personality of the two turns out to be her monster killing side. Her sloppiness in most of her fighting in combination with her goal of protecting any innocents from said monsters didn't help either. The only other notable characters pre-twist were the rather shady characters Kanako and Fumito and her not-so caring father, Tadayoshi. Ah, who am I kidding, Tadayoshi's terrible in both instances! The rest of the characters were either annoying or served very little purpose. Viewers would also have to aquire a sort of taste for a viewer to be into the side characters.
This area is iffy since the big twist involves most of the cast in a big way while being a gigantic spoiler for the better part of the series. To walk on some eggshells, everyone's true demeanor and role is unveiled while Saya ends up becoming an improvement after she gets herself together from the big reveal. This put the series in a much better light on the most part despite it being so late into the series.
Pros and Cons The art style is very beautiful and cute (CLAMP as usual) and the animation for this show is very nice and fluid. As for the musical score, the background music is nice and out of the two main themes, the opening is the best of the two alongside most of the music for this show. However, the ending theme is also a good theme to listen to. For those that are into gore, this anime has plenty, especially in the latter half and 80% of it wasn't just for gore's sake (you may also find the other 20% satisfying too).
Now, on to the cons and those that aren't into gore should've dipped upon hearing the name of the series (and it lives up to that name, trust me) and some of the deaths weren't really needed, despite how good they looked to those that like such fare. The same goes for the mild dark fanservice and the poor excuses of romantic elements that went on for the characters that were interested in Saya and vice versa. The direction of the plot before the twists in many scenes (alongside some horror movie moments where you just want to yell at the TV telling someone to do something quicker) really muddled the overall quality to the show, sadly.
Final Verdict This will have to be a 6/10 for me. Despite the well done action scenes, it was a downward spiral in terms of everything else until the twist and if it weren't for that, the score would've been much lower than this. For those that are completionists or want to see some gore just for the fun of it, then this is a watch, but story-wise, there are much better shows than this from the action-horror genre
Current Situation: I wanted another excuse to use Enterprise as an avatar again.
Old Man Dream: ...later titles in the Macross franchise can finally come stateside with all involved parties finally coming to a truce over how to handle things with the Macross trademark and all later anime in the franchise associated with it.

Taka: I see. A global release will benefit it. Gundam did pretty good. The only few franchises that are only popular in Japan but not popular in the west - Yokai Watch comes to mind.

Master Menos: F for Respects. DMX did all his work while suffering from a drug addiction, and I almost never knew until a point. I hope his next life treats him far better.
