Note: This is part of the XII Days of Redemption reviewing event and contains very mild spoilers. Also, for this review, the second season is treated as a second cour, as intended from the show itself.
Snow White with the Red Hair is a romantic shoujo anime series about Shirayuki's path to become a court herbalist to thank the royal prince that helped her with a dilemma involving her homeland's prince. From there, the relationship between her and the prince of Clarines starts to blossom alongside some attempts to forge some allies.
Storyline The story happens to be rather straightforward to a point since the fairy tale influence is immense for the story, but how the events are approached for everyone turned out to be executed quite well. Moments of comedy and some mild slice-of-life fare were very fun through both cours. Some common story tropes that this show contains end up being shattered due to how they are handled, with Shirayuki breaking out of a few "damsel in distress" moments by her lonesome. There is also a huge emphassis on the relationships between characters fused within the story and it ended up being much more of an advantage than a weakness, and that helped the end result of the show out on the most part, which feels very fitting instead of feeling unfinished like many anime series that happen to have a manga as a source.
Characters Pretty much everyone that was a main or side character was well done on this department, especially for Shirayuki, Zen and Obi. While some may find her as a tad too caring for people as a strong female lead, I found her overall demeanor to be excellent, even considering that she managed to turn a villan character with her words alone and also had moments where she had necessarily toughened up in times of peril. Zen isn't a run-of-the-mill prince either and was handled well later on after his feelings for Shirayuki rubbed off on her, thus making the romance between him and Shirayuki an excellent one. His personality outside of being in love was also very solid. Obi was questionable at first, but that air ended up supporting his overall character and personality. The moments of him and Shirayuki getting along came off as genuine friendship instead of giving off possible love interest vibes thankfully strengthened both their characters.
The least effective and least favorite of the bunch was Raji up until the point where he turned, as mentioned earlier and managed to become a decent character in the end. On top of that, his siblings are adorable as side characters and I love how they both look after Raji. To end this off, Umehebi is my least fave of the cast instead, despite being an effective villain for her part of the show.
Pros and Cons The art style is very nice and fitting to the demographic without being too cutesy alongside the fact that it's very vibrant without hurting the eyes. The animation is fluid and top notch as well to go alongside the art style. Most of the music is very nice to listen to, with the second cour's opening and ending being the best themes. The background music for the episodes are also beautiful to listen to. What also helped this show was the amount of action scenes that this contained as they all managed to help with the story.
There were very little cons to point out for me here. The first opening theme wasn't as strong as the rest of the show's music, but it's still a nice listen. This isn't recommended to those that strongly dislike fairy tales despite this series standing out among them to a point.
Final Verdict This gets crowned with a 9/10 on it's head. For those that want a great love story without a whole lot of harrowing tropes that romance-themed anime are plagued with nowadays, you can't go wrong with this series at all, even as a royal and non-royal romance story.
Current Situation: I wanted another excuse to use Enterprise as an avatar again.
While I love the first season, I will admit I was not as big of a fan of the second season, as it was basically a reverse harem, (which to be fair Shirayuki character is amazing). it just lost some of the magic the first season had, but yeah overall a really good princess love story.
Old Man Dream: ...later titles in the Macross franchise can finally come stateside with all involved parties finally coming to a truce over how to handle things with the Macross trademark and all later anime in the franchise associated with it.

Taka: I see. A global release will benefit it. Gundam did pretty good. The only few franchises that are only popular in Japan but not popular in the west - Yokai Watch comes to mind.

Master Menos: F for Respects. DMX did all his work while suffering from a drug addiction, and I almost never knew until a point. I hope his next life treats him far better.
