Plot: It is Tib the black cat who leads Mary to the strange flower in the woods. When she discovers a little broomstick shortly afterwards, she is astonished to feel it jump in to action. Before she can gather her wits, it is whisking her over the treetops, above the clouds, and in to the grounds of Endor College, where: 'All Examinations Coached for by A Competent Staff of Fully-Qualified Witches.' Here she discovers evidence of a terrible experiment in transformation - deformed and mutant animals imprisoned in cages. In the moment after her broomstick takes off, she realises that Tib has been captured. Returning to the College the following day, she manages to free the animals, but not before the Head of the college, Miss Mumblechook, and her colleague, Doctor Dee, have seen her. Mary manages to flee ...but the evil pair are in hot pursuit!
Mary and the Witch's Flower Box Office Earns US$1.9 Million in U.S.
Fathom Events revealed on Thursday that Studio Ponoc and Hiromasa Yonebayashi's Mary and The Witch's Flower anime film has earned a total box office gross of US$1.9 million in the United States. The total gross makes the film GKIDS' most successful theatrical release yet.
GKIDS and Fathom Events opened the anime in U.S. theaters on January 18. The film had earned US$1,167,431 on its January 18 opening day, and ranked #3 on that day's box office. The film earned US$1,497,483 as of January 21.
Old Man Dream: ...later titles in the Macross franchise can finally come stateside with all involved parties finally coming to a truce over how to handle things with the Macross trademark and all later anime in the franchise associated with it.

Taka: I see. A global release will benefit it. Gundam did pretty good. The only few franchises that are only popular in Japan but not popular in the west - Yokai Watch comes to mind.
