Chapter 1 - usually the longest because it is the pilot and it needs to hook. Yuji, the protagonist who was still a track and field member likes to spend his time in the occult club. It starts off like a generic school shonen. Yuji reminds me of Ryuji from Persona 5, his hair, he does track, and he says for real.
The chapter reminds me of Bleach because you got a character versed in the supernatural gets caught in a battle that involves the protagonist. Then you have the franchise jargon because the protagonist becomes the audience surrogate. To world build. Just like Tatsumi from Akame ga Kill which is not a bad thing.
I would say the chapter dragged on because they end on a cliffhanger after for no apparent reason Yuji ate a cursed finger to get powers. He became possessed. Shonen demon already. That was pretty stupid w riting. That is only issue I had.
Yuji by some luck, one in million chance or one every thousand years (they really like to emphasize it) is the perfect vessel to collect all 10 Sukuna fingers or limbs. Once he eats and seals them, he will be executed.
They end the chapter with a Blue Exorcist, going to high school for exorcism
It is tough to make something new
How will this franchise distinguish itself from the other shonen series in exorcism
It had a rough start. No doubt most shonen will get better as the plot progrexs
Like most Shonen, They go had once they get too long, Naruto, Magi, Fairy Tail, Bleach
That is enough sampling
They say anime gets generic each season but I think manga has it worse because low budget means it is easier to churn out manga than anime
We see how long this series will last. Less than 100 chapters?
Old Man Dream: Well, I went ahead and already spoiled myself over later events in the series. Looks like that gets fairly messy with handling its little plot twist involving Rika, Satoko, and the mentioned story element having some assume there's some sort of...

Old Man Dream: ...Umineko crossover. May have liked the idea with better handling of the story development. But it's basically made Satoko a rather unlikable character now.

Taka: It's a gigantic mech franchise. I haven't seen Macross myself. I know it's a big one.

Old Man Dream: Guess we don't get it. Make things short and sweet: Through some unintentional legal wranglings, Harmony Gold's owned international rights to the Macross name for decades and its Japanese developers, disgusted by the move, had not allowed...

Taka: I see. A global release will benefit it. Gundam did pretty good. The only few franchises that are only popular in Japan but not popular in the west - Yokai Watch comes to mind.

Master Menos: F for Respects. DMX did all his work while suffering from a drug addiction, and I almost never knew until a point. I hope his next life treats him far better.
