Welcome to the We Never Learn discussion thread where you can talk about the plot, characters and episodes overall.
We Never Learn Alias: Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai, BokuBen, We Can't Study Studio: Arvo Animation, Silver Adaptation: Taishi Tsutsui's manga Genres: Comedy, School, Harem, Romance Episodes: 13 Release Date: April 7th, 2019 Streaming: Crunchyroll, FunimationNow, Hulu
Plot: His late father always said that a useless man should strive to be useful, so to that end, third-year high school student Nariyuki Yuiga dedicated himself to becoming a high-achieving student in his school, despite his history of poor grades. In order to give his destitute family a better life, his ultimate goal is to obtain the special VIP nomination, a prestigious scholarship covering all future university tuition fees. Although Nariyuki could feasibly be a shoe-in for the nomination, he is constantly overshadowed by classmates Rizu Ogata and Fumino Furuhashi in mathematics and literature, respectively.
To his delight, Nariyuki receives the nomination, but there's a catch: he has to tutor his two star classmates, who are each hopelessly mediocre at the other’s subject of expertise! To make matters worse, the subjects they are horrible at are the same subjects they want to pursue for their future. As the time to submit university applications draws nearer, Nariyuki must find an effective tutoring method for the girls before it's too late.
You know it is a love angle/triangle when there are two. When it is three or more, it is a harem.
Tutor anime - similar to Quintessential Quintuplets except we have 3 non blood related girls, two of them excel in one field buy fail everything else. The sport girl fails at everything and schools accept well rounded athletes. She is not part of the principal's task for the tutor.
Ep 3 - 2nd half has the cliche of making the tomboy feminine enough as her classmates help her woo the protagonist
1st half crams math girl with udon and literature girl who was sick. Both passed their midterms
I love the princess carry contest
A roughly balanced episode in terms of showcasing the girls
I think we continue and finish off the visit at the teacher's place only to run into glasses girl who was delivering noodles.
Because the protagonist's mother was sick, he volunteer to work at the lingerie store called "Jelly" something. He was in the mall mascot outfit and had to do some risque things until the blue haired girl saw him unmasked once the store manager arrive back from taking care of her sick daughter
This episode was full of harem cliches and fateful encounters but it was still good nonetheless. Didn't feel cheesy or old. I had fun.
Asumi Kominami is the new character introduced. She's the shortest one (like that scene where the 3 main girls meet her and glasses girl was comparing her height) and the senpai
I am confused with this show's characters. I thought it was 3 main love interests
The teacher had an episode with fan service. I dismissed it as the teacher wasn't really the love interest. When Asumi shows up, she reminded me of the teacher with harem antics as well. She even got him to pretend they are in a relationship in front of the doctor father.
It would be fair to say the anime is no longer equal on the three main girls in terms of representation. The blue haired girl was the wing woman. She was helping the swimmer girl and the protagonist fixed misunderstandings.
It was full of cliches like texting right behind them in the park. Yet, it still felt natural. This harem show is just a happy show. Not too ecchi. That would please people who can't tolerate ecchi.
Fumino Furuhashi gets the final spotlight (the two didn't get the last train and was forced to pretend to be brother and sister and share one bed in the same room and somehow holding each other) as everyone else appeared with minor scenes and fan service of the harem cliche which doesn't feel tiring for some reason during the festival
Dream: Last anime I will be covering is Gankutsuou: Count of Monte Cristo. Will start watching it tomorrow. Not sure how much longer I can keep myself up at this point.

Taka: Depending on my energy, I can watched up to 2 AM. Usually with work, I fall asleep on anime series that don't have a lot of action.

Master Menos: Finally got out of the fast food job. It was a graceful exit, but to be honest, I'll miss some of those guys. Got a sprained ankle from it since September, so I'll finally focus on healing that back at the family home.

HungryWorld: Well if anyone remembers what happened to Pingu in the City, with it being joke 10/10 scored on MAL just to get it into the top 10 anime... well now is Ishuzoku Reviewers' turn. Seems that in response to Funimation's cancel people boosted the score hard.

Taka: What? That sounds so weird.

Master Menos: It's damn awesome to be honest. It shot to 1st Place!

Dream: On the subject of MAL, it looks like the admin are planning to tweak their scoring system for titles to reduce the likelihood of voters artificially inflating the ranking of certain titles.

Master Menos: My V-Day present will be belated this year because I "Had some trouble with ol' Johnny." (That's your hint.)

Dream: The joys of adulthood. Joking aside, plan to at least attempt to wrap up Gankutsuou sometime early to mid next week so I can get done with my Funi voted titles. Afterward, not doing any more voting for a while considering how long this had been taking.

Dream: Done with Gankutsuou. Will be working to get a review up for it by sometime tonight.

Taka: Great job, Dream! I should do some reviews, too.

Dream: Looks like MAL's currently down due to the site getting hit by a major denial-of-service attack, just as a heads up.
Feb 18, 2020 17:55:23 GMT
Taka: I added 2 polls tonight. Also, I wonder why MAL was down. Crunchyroll also had it, too.
Feb 20, 2020 4:05:24 GMT
Dream: Not sure about Crunchyroll. For MAL, the DoS attacks may have been retaliation by those who dabbled into manipulating the site's scoring system for certain anime titles. The admin on MAL announced they would be overhauling the system to prevent said...

Dream: ...manipulation last week.
