Taka, I think part of the reason it's easier to develop the science side is because the setting takes place in Academy City, so there is plenty of opportunities for world-building the setting and introducing characters.
For what it's worth, a lot of these arcs in Season 3 that revolve around Accelerator and Hamazura barely touch magic and are grounded into hard sci-fi with mechs, Esper powers, etc.
And like I said, Touma becomes out of focus for other characters to shine a lot more in Season III.
I'm only basing Touma on what I experienced: seeing the anime. That's what I told you before.
I can imagine the ln or future anime might be better.
The world of magic isn't as tight knit compared to the world of science which doesn't help Touma's character compared to Misaka's character when I watch the anime. Things come into full circle for Misaka. She befriends former villains and they get a much bigger role compared to Touma's heroine of the arc formula and those heroines and villains do not get much screen time. Just keeps on adding to Touma's 'harem'.
It'll really be a dream come true if they adapt more Index, while I enjoyed Heavy Object as well, I find Touma entertaining because he's so normal compared to the other powerful characters in the series, all he can do is negate their powers which is very limited, the way he wins is being resourceful or by outwitting them, kinda like Qwenthur from HO, only difference are, Qwenthur stands out than the other casts, Touma doesnt, he kinda just pops outta nowhere and you instantly miss the guy if you get too much Misaka/Accelerator etc.
Kind of odd when I discuss characters, I talk about their enemies, their environment, and their traits but in the manga discussions, you guys (don't want to sound racist) tend to gravitate towards abilities
Disagree to agree w/ Touma.
I know you guys see him as cool. Don't really see Qwenthur comparison since Touma doesn't use gadgets or is very smart to use his environment, ex: Touma just got lucky w/ Accelerator b/c Misaka clones were altering the wind for him to use H2H and his hand of negation

Taka You really need to actually read my posts. Beyond saying why I like the character, I'm not arguing with you. In fact, I'm in a way agreeing with you by admitting Touma is an either love him or hate him kind of character and that one of the reasons that makes the story arcs in Season 3 Index so good will be the use of multiples protagonists and other characters being focused on. Literally entire arcs will happen with Touma not even being mentioned.
Lastly, I didn't compare Touma to Quenser though the similarities are there between their personalities which was made very clear in a crossover novel. Touma does rely on quick thinking and use of his surroundings too especially in the novels and parts in this Season.
I was comparing Quenser to Hamazura, one of the upcoming protagonists whose very much exactly as you described Quenser
I did mixed up Touma with Hamazura. Don't even remember Hamazura to be honest. Thanks for correcting me.
Hey, we are all posting pretty fast, so we tend to misread stuff. I wans't arguing with you since your tone sounds like you feel like you are being irritated by me again like in Magi.
Not at all. Been talking with you up until now just for the sake of discussion and I think I've been pretty classy about it. If I sound irritated (I'm not), it could be because much like the Magi thread, I feel like your misunderstanding my intentions and am now trying to make it clear what I've been saying.
Anyway, you an Accelerator fan? The two seasons didn't quite do him justice but this upcoming Season 3 will be showing both what he's really capable of and he'll have arguably the best character development yet.

Taka , Another reason why fans want a Season 3 including the folks that haven't read the novels. Season 1 just ended. Season 2 ending was even more frustrating because of how clearly evident it was that big things were about to happen: Accelerator joining Group, Academy City and several Magic groups preparing for an all out war, villains introduced, etc.
Accelerator manga was made just because the character is liked so much among the fan base much like Misaka. Chronologically, the Accelerator manga takes place shortly after he was shot and currently recovering in the hospital.
Accelerator even got a second spin-off parody manga featuring him and other characters as idol singers too.
Battle Royale Arc is easily one of the best arcs in the story and you'll love it if you liked Railgun since it really shows more of Academy City including the uglier sides to it's society. Basically, since most of the military and law enforcement has left the city, society temporarily collapses in Academy City and it becomes a war between gangs and factions including between several Level 5s.
@sansrivaal , So which arc are you most hyped for?
They should have ended the Index anime on Ep. 47 I believe. What I think the franchise's flaws is an overabundance of protagonists to flesh on. Index should have focused on its protagonist Touma but it's okay to devote some episodes but not too much.
That's why Railgun probably did better in my opinion since it mostly focus on Misaka's group. I feel Toma's anime was just showcasing 2 more protagonists while not doing Index and Touma justice.
It's a lot of cannibalism of screen time.
I don't know how other fans feel since we are dealing with LN exclusive, Manga exclusive, anime exclusive, LN/Manga, or any combinations as different mediums shape fans differently for difference experiences and sundried perspectives

Taka Index definitely especially since she's the titular character. Touma though gets plenty of attention in my opinion. Season 2 was pretty much him until then end when Accelerator played his part in one half of the Academy City invasion arc.
Spin-offs are great actually. The writer has a habit of introducing loads upon loads of characters from various sides and these spin-offs do a lot of justice for characters in the main story that didn't get enough attention and if their characters introduced in spin-offs, it makes their appearances in other series even easier.
A few characters in the Accelerator manga have debuted in the latest chapters of Railgun for example.
Not that hard either to get the whole story just requires knowing the Index novels and the Railgun and Accelerator manga. Can even dive into either mangas if you at least watch the first season of Index.

@sansrivaal Yup. Accelerator is one of the main characters of that arc while the other half of it follows Hamazura and the faction he belongs to.
I can't even decide which one I'm most excited about. I'm really hoping that this will have Railgun S's excellent visuals and animation quality, especially for the big fights like Accelerator vs Kakine, all the action scenes with Hamazura, Kanzaki vs Acqua, Gabriel vs pretty much everyone else, etc.
Based on the amount of volumes covered per Season, there's no doubt that at this will wrap up the series to the end. Not enough content for 2 seasons. There's also a bit too much content for the usual 24 episodes so I'm hoping they'll go above the usual count or even make a movie.
Boy Othinus is a ways to go still XD Adapting New Testament will be cool but I just really want all of the first series covered done very well.
New Testament included? At least a few more after Season 3. Not even including Railgun manga having more than enough content for another season or two and the Accelerator manga also getting there as well
CosmicNoirTear, Weirdly enough Im fine with Index II's art rather than S' art, seems way too shoujou like for my taste, but it does have amazing animation. Oh yeah Gabriel, honestly I cant remember much about every major fights concerning this series. I hope they put in a little NT content in there if they do make Index III 24eps like its previous ones.
Taka, One of the main reasons why I like Touma as well is because he's full of mysteries, his past, his powers, I dont think the author even knows what kind of history he'll put in Touma haha.
