Chargeman Ken! first episode is streamed by Discotek
Knack Productions produced the series of 65 five-minute episodes in 1973, and gained popularity for its low quality after Line Communications released the series on DVD in Japan in 2007. The story focuses on 10-year-old Ken, who transforms into a superhero to protect earth from invaders called Juralians.
Discotek Media announced last August that it planned to stream the series and release it on DVD.
From AnimeNEXT convention, Discotek announced they will release Rintaro and Leiji Matsumoto's Galaxy Express 999 and Adieu Galaxy Express 999 anime films on BD, Madhouse's HELLS anime film on BD and DVD, and Masaaki Yuasa's Kaiba television anime series in a BD/DVD combo pack
Discotek Media announced at its panel at AnimeNEXT on Sunday that it will release Rintaro and Leiji Matsumoto's Galaxy Express 999 and Adieu Galaxy Express 999 anime films on Blu-ray Disc. The company also announced that it will release Madhouse's HELLS anime film on Blu-ray Disc and DVD, and it will release Masaaki Yuasa's Kaiba television anime series in a Blu-ray Disc/DVD combo pack.
The 1979 Galaxy Express 999 anime film, like the television series of the same name, is based on Leiji Matsumoto's original manga. Discotek Media released the film on DVD in June 2011 and describes the story:
Galaxy Express 999 is the name of a train which travels through space, beginning at Megalopolis Station on one end of the galaxy and ending at Andromeda on the other. But the Galaxy Express is more than just a train - it's also a metaphor for life itself, with passengers constantly boarding, debarking, and dreaming along the way. Tetsuro Hoshino is a youth who'll give anything to board the Three-Nine, including a promise to accompany a mysterious woman named Maetel all the way to Andromeda, the planet where, she tells him, he can get a free machine body to avenge the cruel death of his mother at the hands of the villainous Count Mecha. But nothing is as easy as it sounds, and Tetsuro is about to learn the true price not only for boarding the Three-Nine and avenging his mother, but for leaving his childhood behind, falling in love, and becoming a man.
Discotek released the Adieu Galaxy Express 999 anime film on DVD in June 2011, and it describes the film:
Tetsuro Hoshino was once a boy willing to give anything to board the Three-Nine, including a promise to accompany a mysterious woman named Maetel to the other side of the Galaxy, if only to fulfill a vow to avenge the cruel death of his mother at the hands of the villainess Count Mecha. Now, two years after the events of Galaxy Express 999, Earth has become a battlefield, and Tetsuro is summoned to board the Three-Nine once more. All questions will be answered and all mysteries revealed as Tetsuro embarks on a journey the destination of which is unknown even to the Galaxy Express Railways locomotive C6248 itself... a journey which will reveal a secret so awful, even Maetel herself can hardly bear speak of it.
The film debuted in 1981 as a sequel to the Galaxy Express 999 and Galaxy Express 999: Glass no Clair films.
Viz Media had once licensed the two Galaxy Express 999 films in North America, before Discotek Media licensed them in 2010. Both films debuted on the Viewster streaming service last year.
Discotek Media will release the two films on Blu-ray Disc in late 2017.
Yoshiki Yamakawa and Madhouse's 2008 Hells anime film adapts Sin'Ichi Hiromoto's Hells Angels manga. The "dark fantasy that is full of cynical gags" follows a girl's journey to hell and back.
The anime was first screened theatrically under the original manga's name in 2008. TC Entertainment released the film on Blu-ray Disc in Japan with English subtitles and under the title Hells in August 2012.
Masaaki Yuasa (The Tatami Galaxy, Ping Pong, Mind Game, Lu over the wall) and Madhouse's 12-episode Kaiba anime series premiered in Japan in April 2008. Siren Visual released the series in Australia in 2011, and it describes the show:
What are memories? Souls? Spirits? This is a world where memories can be turned into data and stored. Even if the body dies, its memories live on and can be transferred to another body. Bad memories can be erased and good ones downloaded. However, this is something only privileged can do.
In a world like this, our protagonist Warp (aka Kaiba) is travelling in another body while having no memories of his own...
The series starred Houko Kuwashima as Kaiba, Mamiko Noto as Neiro, and Romi Park as Popo.
Discotek Media announced on Facebook on Tuesday that it has licensed Soul Link, Project A-Ko 2: Plot of the Daitokuji Financial Group, Project A-ko 3: Cinderella Rhapsody, and Project A-Ko 4: Final. All four anime will get DVD releases on September 26, along with Discotek's Crusher Joe: The OVA's DVD and Kaiba Blu-ray Disc/DVD combo pack.
Discotek's Soul Link release will include all 12 episodes in Japanese with English subtitles. The 2006 anime is based on the visual novel of the same name, which MangaGamer released in English. Discotek describes the story:
The happy reunion between siblings, friends, and lovers aboard the space station Aries is short-lived, as a group of heavily-armed terrorists invades. A majority of crew members and tourists evacuates, leaving a small group of fresh-faced military cadets, their tough-as-nails commander, and a resourceful young officer to survive while trying to keep the terrorists from bombarding Earth with nuclear weapons. Soon, though, both cadets and terrorists realize there's a bigger threat in their midst, in the form of a traitor with a bioengineered virus. Making matters worse, the genius of cer is taken prisoner, leaving his comparatively average younger brother to lead the underdog effort.
Discotek will release all three Project A-Ko original video anime (OVAs) with both Japanese audio and the original English dubs from their Central Park Media releases. Discotek already released the first Project A-Ko film in 2011. Discotek describes the three sequels as follows:
Project A-Ko 2: Plot of the Daitokuji Financial Group (1987):
Three weeks have gone by since the alien spaceship crash landed on the Graviton City spire, and since then the aliens have been hard at work converting their ship to a pleasure district, hoping to make friends with the humans! ...Not. Perpetually late and continually over-eating A-ko, spacey and cheerful C-ko, and brilliant and bold B-ko are about to enter summer break from school, and it just so happens the aliens' ship is open for business. When a free meal turns into a sob story about how the aliens just want to go home, will it be A-ko or B-ko who can get the ship into orbit again? More importantly, which one of the two will win C-ko's affections? Giant mecha, superheroes, and battle bikinis abound in this second installment of the parody-tastic Project A-Ko!
Project A-ko 3: Cinderella Rhapsody (1988):
Spring is in the air, and that means love is sure to follow. Or at least, overpowered redhead A-Ko really hopes it does! While out shopping for the perfect dress, A-Ko gets into an argument with normally carefree C-Ko, who's more interested in having fun than having a boyfriend. When C-Ko runs away, she's nearly hit by handsome hunk and motorcyclist Kei, who in turn is hit by a panicking A-Ko rushing after her friend. Left with only a glass slipper earring to remember "her" by, when A-Ko and Kei meet again at A-Ko's part-time job, the passion of youth is sure to bloom! Or will it? Throw in conniving B-Ko's plans to ruin anything good for A-Ko, a petulent C-Ko, and a whole mess of mecha, and you've got yourself a Cinderella Rhapsody!
Project A-Ko 4: Final (1989):
On a quiet day at Graviton High, while the kicks are fast and the missile barrages are booming, Miss Ayumi ponders just where her life is leading. Meanwhile, out in the deserts of Iraq, scientists have unearthed a strange artifact bearing a symbol just like the one on Miss Ayumi's pendant. Strange things begin to occur, and the strangest of all is Miss Ayumi agreeing to an arranged marriage. With handsome hunk Kei, of all people! Still carrying a torch for the dashing young man, A-Ko and B-Ko take their fight to the school's gym-turned-wedding chapel, even as a massive fleet of aliens bears down upon the Earth. As the mecha are mobilized and missiles start to fly, C-Ko wonders to herself, where does she belong in all of this?
A fourth OVA, Project A-Ko: Uncivil Wars debuted in 1990, offering an alternate retelling of the original film.
Chihaya is an average high school student whose life turns upside down when she comes across Natsuki, a cute, rabbit-like creature that she takes in as a pet before finding out he can take human form and is from Evergreen, a parallel world full of nature and magic. The anime centers on the supposed "death" of Inspector Zenigata, Lupin III's nemesis from Interpol. The story begins with the discovery of a Japanese cultural treasure — at a Nazi Germany sanatorium. Morgana, a mysterious figure who leads a ninja thief gang, battles Lupin for the treasure, and he seemingly kills Zenigata.
Discotek will release Honey & Clover Parts I and II on home video, although the company stated it has yet to determine the format of the release. Discotek explained that it received new masters from the licensor, and will redo the subtitles in order to "avoid the burn-in and other issues that the older masters have." The company is evaluating the masters to determine if the masters can be upconverted for Blu-ray Disc, or if they should be kept in standard definition.
The two anime adapt Chika Umino's Honey and Clover manga, which Viz Media released in English. The manga and anime center on an art college student named Takemoto who lives in a student house with two upperclassmen. Takemoto's teacher introduces a relative named Hagumi to Takemoto, and he and Morita both start to fall in love with her.

Dictionaries are ships which guide people through a sea of words and help us all to understand one another. This is the guiding principle at Genbu Books' Dictionary Editorial Department where they are int he process of creating a brand-new dictionary, "The Great Passage - Daitokari," designed for the modern era.
Just when production is underway, the Chief of the department must retire. Shortly after this news comes down, one of their editors, Masahi Nishioka, runs into a salesman from their company, Mitsuya Majime, while out at one of their vendors. Majime has a real love and appreciation for words, and is invited to join the Editorial Department where he can put his talents to work.
The outgoing Nishioka and Introverted Majime seem like a mismatched pair at first, but form a strong team which play off each other's strengths. It is a years-long journey to create a dictionary from scratch, but together, they may just make it through this "Great Passage: and make "Daitokai" a success.
