Taka , Yes it does. It completely screws up Frieza's powerscale. Frieza in DBZ is a weaker character with little potential. Frieza in DBS is a prodigy, who could destroy planets without training a single day in his life. DBZ Frieza in hell said he couldn't match SSJ3 Goku ever, while DBS Frieza outright stated he would surpass SSj3 Goku within 4 months. After 4 months, Frieza actually became stronger than Super Saiyan Blue Goku. SSB Goku is stronger than the one that shook the Universe. SSJ3 Goku is multi-planet to star buster at most (or solar system by statements)
Base Frieza in DBS is stronger than SSJ Gohan and SSJ3 Gotenks. You can't match DBZ fillers with Super. Completely separate continuity.
I thought you were a person who takes feats over statements. I don't want to bring it up. I'm seeing a different point. Thank you though. It feels weird to point those two incarnations as separate persons. I know you won't agree. I'm not asking you to. I feel it's the same Frieza despite the inconsistencies. I don't want to overthink this and make a theory that Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super are in different continuity from Dragon Ball.
Remembering my review on the film, I did not enjoy the fact that Frieza could do that. Felt it was a plot device. I can't say much in feats or statements. Not that I hate Frieza. Rehashing a villain and making them strong again is just meh for me. What can you do. Golden Frieza is here to stay, regardless of what he was.
Taka, I take story continuity over everything. When there's continuity error, everything else becomes irrelevant. Base Frieza in DBS can fodderize Kid Buu, DBZ frieza couldn't do that in his dreams (Frieza mentioned that while watching Goku's fight in hell). They're not same character. I can point out dozens of other inconsistencies the DBZ fillers bring to Super. You can only use the Dragon Ball Manga and Dragon Ball Super for vs battle, if you respect continuity.
I see. Then, I misunderstood you. As for vs battle forum, people have strong beliefs on what they want to use. That's why debating is subjective in a sense. Not a battle person, but I seen things in the past. Because of the inconsistencies, I say just flow with what you believe in. If the other guy believes something else, then okay. Agree to disagree after showing your perspectives. No need to make things personal. Some folks love GT, hate GT. "" hate Super, love Super. Whatever. I see nothing wrong in a sense.
Well, you do know I wasn't aware of Dragon Super due to not watching it or getting invested into it due to localization issues. I'm a dub guy. Wasn't aware of Toriyama's statement. Don't know if others know that or the others that do know that just personally chose to argue otherwise.
I said this. No one is wrong. Debating is subjective from a wiki editors. I never allowed folks to post battle feats or calcs on the wiki. That's why I said it's subjective. I know you guys feel it's objective. I'm okay with that. To me, it's subjective as it's the interpretations for matches that cannot occur most of time and we put our imagination in our debates to do these things for fun.
Dragon Ball franchise has inconsistencies that divide the crowd and unfortunately causes flames which shouldn't happen. We should appreciate the differences and look at things, hey that's cool. I didn't think of that way. You can also see it this perspective.
Anyway, I don't want anybody to think I'm imposing my opinion on others, or being arrogant. I'm just trying to be clear and concise, that's all. I want people to have accurate information. What I'm saying below is the current canon standing of Dragon Ball, and I can provide evidence from Daizenshuu for reference to back up.
Here are the points:
1. DBZ, DB Kai and DBGT are non-canon since Toriyama never mentioned them being canon, nor he had any involvement with story or fillers
2. Battle of Gods and Return of Frieza movies are retconned by Dragon Ball Super due to overwhelming contradiction
3. Dragon Ball Super manga might be be used as canon unless the scene contradicts the anime, since Toriyama has actually worked on it alongside Toyataro.
SO, all you need for Dragon Ball is: The original manga and DBS anime. That's it. Sorry for the large fonts, just wanted to draw your attention there. You may use the DBS manga unless it contradicts the anime version. Nothing else is needed, no need to get confused. The original manga and DBS anime is the canon and single continuity atm.
Anybody is free to ask for reference for any of the points above, I will provide asap. I hope all misunderstanding are cleared
No no, I'm not implying you guys are imposing your opinions. We are sharing our thoughts. No one is being hurt or insulted. I'm having fun with the discussion despite me not being a battle guy. Yeah, I had the wrong thoughts. It was fun.
Taka You're not wrong either, both the manga and anime of Z/Kai were used. So technically the anime of Z is also canon. What I'm saying is that the anime of Super is a continuation from the anime of Z, and the manga of Super is a continuation from the original Dragon Ball manga. Both are canon, except for certain contradictory filler.
Taka , Well, the tiers are not right since he messed up the continuities. graet Artiste Hasn't addressed the stuff I mentioned
But yeah, I highly recommend you do check it out because I observed most Animevice members (who're not DB fans) don't know much about Dragon Ball continuity, if at all. It would be good for mods to stay updated, you can also edit the AV wiki with accurate information.
