Got the 2007 Raideen anime and Uta no Prince-sama 1000% for my final snags off the Rightstuf Holiday Sale. For anyone interested, better hurry to take advantage of the heavy discounts. The sale ends after Sunday night.
Someday I’ll be gone To somewhere that we belong And God has never played his role 'Cause I’m the one who saves my soul It’s a perfect world we’re longing for
I had made my choice: I bought Naruto the Last Ninja (DVD) and Avatar: The Rift Omnibus (known as library edition in the UK). It was $15 for Naruto and $20 for Rift. Compared to Amazon, I was surprised how expensive Rift is. The lowest for a new copy was $47 and up to $63. I don't know why. Amazon was relatively close to Right Stuf price but a bit higher.
For this holiday season, I say folks whose favorite manga series are published by Viz Media had some good discounts. I don't know about other companies since I'm unfamiliar with them or having been keeping tabs of their Twitter and bargain deals. I saw the latest Mega Deal:
My Right Stuf winter stuff came yesterday. The omnibus got dented a bit. It's all right. I didn't think the omnibus was huge. When I look inside, it has the same size panels like the separate comic issues except in the margins, they have notes from the staff.
Oh yeah, I forgot to call Yusuke since we talked about the omnibus for the Avatar comics in the old site. Hey Yusuke, if you look at the 3 posts above, I have a picture of what the omnibus looks like. I didn't read the omnibus in full detailed.
Though, I'm trying to remember our conversations on the Avatar comics. I do remember we talked about buying the omnibus/library edition.
Taka, Sorry for the late reply, I forgot to logout there.
Yeah I bought The Promise and The Search Library Editions (Same as your one there but it's what they are called over here) a while back now though I can't remember when exactly.
Oddly enough I still haven't read them beyond a quick skim through the contents, but all of them have the gap around the edges, it's "meant" to be for commentary but I would honestly says it's mainly laziness since most of the pages in my two don't have any commentary at all. Definitely would have liked it more if they had taken the time to properly scale up and print out the pages in the full size instead of leaving the blank space.
I think The Rift came out over here last year sometime but I forgot about it, I'll maybe buy it now just to finish off the collection until that new series they are making currently called Smoke and Shadow comes out.
Didn't think you would buy The Last though, It just came out over here maybe a week or 2 ago (Can't say for certain but it was sometime this month) so I was thinking of buying it myself there.
I'll likely download a Blu Ray rip while I'm at it for the sake of just watching it on the computer instead of firing up the PS3.
It's cool. I know you're busy. I was surprised at the big white gap. Agreed with you it's a waste of space due to them having any good commentary. I didn't expect the hardcover versions to be huge. I thought it would be similar size to the regular softcover editions. I prefer hardcover since it last longer and it's more flexible when you turn the pages.
I was going to rent the movie but I couldn't wait for it. For some reason, Amazon doesn't have all the Naruto movies on their rental service. They are really behind. It was on sale for 10 dollars or so. BD/DVD combo was 19 dollars or so. Regular price before the holiday discount was a bit higher. I didn't buy the Blu-ray since I don't have a Blu-ray cover.
Oh there is another Avatar comic sequel, Smoke and Shadow? I didn't read Rift but didn't think they continue the series after 3 major arcs.
Taka, Hardbacks tend to be pretty large in general for stuff like this, I'm just thankful they are all the same size since there are a few I own that differ in size greatly.
I mainly got the hard cover since it was just one collection and easy to keep track of, not to mention being slightly cheaper than buying the 3 books individually.
I've bought some stuff from rightstuf way back in the past (maybe a year or 2 ago now), but I mainly buy my stuff through amazon since I can get cheap or free shipping. We don't really get the combo deals over here, we just have the DVD and BR for The Last so I'll likely buy the BR and then either download or rip it myself and have a look around for some nice subs from a group.
Looking forward to watching it though since I've only seen bits of it so far.
I do own the entirety of Part 1 for Naruto, so that's all the "Uncut" box sets, movies and OVAs. Still in the packaging too since I never bothered to take them out, so they have been like that for 3 or 4 years now. I tried to do the same with Bleach but it still hasn't released all the DVDs over here so that's likely to never become a finished collection.
That's Smoke and Shadow there, I think they have out 2 of the 3 books for it and the last one comes out in April this year. They said they would be doing a few comics for Korra too but I haven't heard anything about those yet so I assume they will be doing them once Smoke and Shadow is finished.
Cool, I guess I wait for the omnibus/library edition. True, it's cheaper to buy the omnibus than buying all three separately. Now, I remember the conversation we had in the old site. Back then, I shown you I had bought all the trilogy for Promise and Search in separate issues but didn't know about the omnibus. Until you mentioned it. I felt a bit dumb for not knowing. You always had helpful advice on saving money. I should have research more. Then again, I never thought they do omnibus.
With manga series, I learn from one panel at Anime Expo on why they do omnibus. They do it for older series especially long series. This was from Kodansha. Not sure how Viz Media and Yen Press + others does their thing.

Taka: It's a gigantic mech franchise. I haven't seen Macross myself. I know it's a big one.

Taka: I see. A global release will benefit it. Gundam did pretty good. The only few franchises that are only popular in Japan but not popular in the west - Yokai Watch comes to mind.

Master Menos: F for Respects. DMX did all his work while suffering from a drug addiction, and I almost never knew until a point. I hope his next life treats him far better.
