It was a mixed bag of an episode. The concept of Robin Hood isn't anything new but it was trying to push the morals are grey, thus confusing Boruto. It shouldn't really confuse Boruto of what's right and wrong and it wasn't as binary compared to other issues explored in Naruto. The other part of the episode that was the better part for me was Shikadai's character. He made a new friend and found new love in Shogi. Temari and Shikamaru had a funny dinner scene.
The arc continues. It's interest to note that since the folks are chasing criminals in the city, Temari doesn't go full blast, collateral damage. Shikadai probably will figure out his new friend is the enemy he and Boruto are fighting. Of course, adults will use children as tools. It's a theme in Naruto with ninja.
I hope this arc will come to an end. It wasn't very exciting nor does it really develop the young characters and push them to their physical limits or make them question things or improve their character mentally.
Shikadai seems to fall off. I recall this is a transition to the movie since those scrolls can copy and contain Jutsu. They will either animate it or skip it. I guess they won't since it will make good padding.
The gang come across a mutant Zetsu who was kidnapping ninja for their chakra since there is no chakra supply for the plant. I can't really sympathize with Boruto. If he really knew Sasuke, he would appreciate his dad actually being home. Sarada wished her dad would be home more often. It's weird seeing Boruto thinking of Sasuke when he hasn't really utilize his own dad or his sensei, Konohamaru. Naruto at least respects and acknowledge Kakashi and Jiraiya.
I feel bad for Sarada. Her father, Sasuke comes home for the Chuunin Exam. He doesn't coach her but instead trains her teammate, Boruto. Boruto use Konohamaru to get the basics of Rasengan to get Sasuke to recognize him and train him
Boruto did cheat with a device.
Since I seen the movie, I didn't see much differences or anything lengthen. The training scene was pretty quick since Boruto has more aptitude.
I feel bad Metal Lee's group because they got bad luck and face against Gaara's adopted son. So much for reliving Gaara vs Rock Lee. I doubt Metal Lee knows how to open the gates. This is capture the flag.
Sumire's team should have won though. The bubblegum guy and his team doesn't look that intimidating.
People should be suspicious of Boruto pulling a massive water jutsu. He should have used wind or lightning since he had used that before. At least, he did use lightning to finish them off.
I did like how it was an interesting match lay up. You have 3 members on a team and they have to protect and steal a flag. Either leave one person or two people on a flag.
4 battles in one episode - each were brief but show a good enough time of the matches
bubble gum ninja - not very interesting Out of the leaf matches, Inojin is the only one to lost until we get to see Chocho's fight next episode The blonde girl in Shinki's group = flipping her hair to send sound waves seems impractical
I feel bad ChoCho has to go up against Shinki. I think the only Genin ninja who are good against Shinki are Sarada and Mitsuki. Boruto - I don't think so until he awakens his Byakugan or perfects his Rasengan.
I got confused with the match up. I think there was an odd number of combatants.
Shinki defeated ChoCho Boruto defeated Shikaidai
Next episode, Sarada fights the masked guy while Mitsuki fights Shinki
It was unexpected that ChoCho's match will be half of the episode. It was great for her character development. The parents of both Shikadai and Chocho really supported their children while both Shikadai and ChoCho gave it their all.
Sarada's fight was great. Nice surprise with her opponent. I should have pick up the clues if I look a bit closer. He's was a puppet user.
For Mitsuki's fight, I was sad Mitsuki forfeited instead of going all out, he has sage chakra. I think he would have defeated Shinki since a lot of the ninja that had Sage Chakra were the likes of Jiraiya, Orochimaru, Naruto, and Sasuke levels
Next episode is the battle royale finale
Boruto will probably be caught cheating if they are still going to do adapt the movie
It might take 2 or 3 episodes to finish the movie. The kages and Sasuke have started the fight with the alien folks. Only Sasuke was the logical one to try to stop the guy from powering up because everyone was watching the guy turn his ally into a fruit and eat him.
Highlight for me was Mitsuki time with Sarada because I'm yaoi trash.
Dream: Looks like a remake of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni will be airing in July. The original seiyuu from the 2000s series will reprise their roles for the remake and judging from the animation, looks like it will have more polish to it compared...
