I started it at the beginning of the week and manage to catch up to chapter 217, Crunchyroll only had Ch. 1 and then Ch. 165? to Ch 217. Didn't know it was on Crunchyroll until I got deep in Ch 170 or so
I realize the scans were from license English source. Hence why the scans look pretty clean
Normally, I try to avoid romance that has love angles/triangles after my experience with so many to name: Re:Zero, Darling in the Franxx, Golden Time
Some reason I was a fool and a sucker for these things. I get too attached easily and somehow I ended up binging a manga series of which the Winter 2019 anime series I took interest until I found it wasn't on Crunchyroll. I did wanted to watch the anime.
Content rating: There is nudity, nipples but not genitalia. There are sex scenes. Later on, the breasts are white out. I don't know when exactly.
A lot to comment on
Basically, Natsuo got into this precarious situation with his first crush of his life, a teacher, and a young girl he had slept with for no reason, has become his two step sisters.
The series has love rivals including the two step sisters. Natsuo has been in two relationships: first with Hina, his first crush, he and Hina risk everything to keep their relationship a secret with only Rui, his bespectacled friend, the bar owner, his teacher Kiriya, knowing them. There has been a few more members, but none of them black mail Natsuo. I'm worried about Hina's stalker as a bit of an arc and a few more chapters about his prison visit suggests concerns. Natsuo's 2nd relationship began after Hina had to break up and resume teaching at another school after a photo of her and Natsuo kissing. Natsuo was holding on while Hina finally rebounded only to found out Rui and Natsuo began dating as a couple. Then Rui broke up with Natsuo in the current chapter, 216 and 217.
Natsuo and Rui help Hina break up with a professor who was a former teacher. The doctor was having an affair and a tumultuous relationship.
Natsuo and Hina start a secret relationship after the school trip.
Natsuo and Hina's relationship ended after the principal finds out. Hina quits being a teacher to avoid a scandal and hurting Natsuo's future to be a writer.
Natsuo and Rui try to find her. Natsuo tries to get Hina to reconsider but Hina's vague words and her returning the ring convince Natsuo to give up.
Natsuo and Rui become a couple after Rui realizes her feelings while Hina tries to get over her feelings for Natsuo but ultimately, she is unable to move on.
Natsuo gets his first award at the amateur writing competition. (forgot if this was before Natsuo and Rui become a couple?)
Natsuo moves out and joins a theater group while Rui works on becoming a chef after reconciliation between her mother and her father and clear up why the father had divorce her mother. It wasn't cheating. The father had debt.
Unaware of Natsuo and Rui's relationship, Hina quits being a teacher and finds work at a hotel.
Hina eventually finds out and is hurt. She eventually supports them.
Serizawa develops and realizes her feelings for Natsuo during college.
The mother of Hina and Rui set up an arranged marriage. Things look promising until the man has resorted to stalking and making threats to Hina. That escalates to the man trying to stab Hina but he ends up stabbing Natsuo
During the hospital, Hina decides to not pursue love until Natsuo achieves his dream and reach happiness much to the bar owner's surprise. Over the course of the series, The bar owner has been helping Rui, Natsuo and Hina with their relationships with Natsuo and each other.
Serizawa sneaks in Natsuo's room with the help of the male neighbor. She overhears Rui who mentions she is moving overseas for one year to hone her culinary talents. Rui catches Serizawa and inadvertently leaks that her forbidden relationship
Natsuo pays a visit to the stalker in prison
After finishing his recovery, Natsuo publishes his first book, albeit, the company forces his editor to sell that Natsuo was the victim and savior of his older sister in the stalker stabbing incident
Hina cheers up Natsuo but shows signs of PTSD and paranoia. Natsuo promises to be there for her, causing things to mix up for Hina who has to act as the big sister during Rui's absence
This leads to Natsuo having a writer's block despite his friends and family efforts to cheer him up. Serizawa takes advice from a girl and makes her move at the end of her theater play debut, kissing him right in front of Hina, after knowing Natsuo's secret romantic affairs
Rui breaks up with Natsuo due to misunderstandings
As for side characters, Natsuo, Hina, and Rui have considerable influence on changing people's lives, repairing romance or finding closure in unrequited romance
Momo was unrequited and rejected by Natsuo. She ends up dating her Kouhai
The American foreigner who liked Rui and found out the secret is single
It took time for the female childhood friend of Barasu to make Barasu notice her feelings for him after a club reunion and Natsuo's theater group at the beach event made interventions
Serizawa who has a female lover who is unrequited by Serizawa has affection for Natsuo. Her help and kissing w/ advice of another girl led to misunderstandings and made frictions unintentionally in Rui and Natsuo's relationship which led to the big break up
Not sure what chapter, but one of the first 3 chapters for sure. The mom just came out after a divorce. Her experiences will be the first to set the mood for many romantic relationships in the series with people breaking up and making new ones
With the school festival coming up, many of Natsuo's club are gearing up to make their move while Rui, Natsuo, and Hina are unsure of their feelings and whether to pursue them:
Hina is still trying to forget Natsuo Natsuo is in between Hina and Rui Rui is not sure to reciprocate Nac's feelings or pursue Natsuo, aware Natsuo has lingering feelings for Hina after Hina sever ties to protect Natsuo's future Momo is planning to confess to Natsuo Miu trying to confess to Kiriya, her teacher A younger kouhai who starts with a "K" has feelings for Momo Nac, aware of Rui and Natsuo's feelings, wants to confess to Rui
After 217 chapters, we don't really flesh out the Meiji University theather club members. Though, we did get to learn the backstory of why this young man attempted to commit suicide. We have homosexual relationships, though both ended in unrequited love. The younger man feels guilty that he did not reciprocate anther male friend's feelings and that man committed suicide to avoid hurting his friend's feelings
The man who was the son of a client reveals signs of being a manipulative man. Introduced as a potential arranged marriage suitor for HIna by Hina's mother... While he has impressed Hina's family members by his merits, he has a dark personality.
Hina takes actions to terminate their relationship but the man refuses to give up and takes hostile stalking after this chapter or so.
During the event prior to Ch. 174, Hina is pressured to marry by her mother while unsure of her lingering feelings for Natsuo after being aware of Rui and Natsuo are a couple.
After the whole stalking and Natsuo's hospital recovery for which he was stabbed by the stalker to protect Hina, Serizawa sneaks into Natsuo's room. Taking the advice of a female student (who is known to seduce and dump men on a basis), she plans to make Natsuo aware of her feelings. She ends up overhearing Rui's conversation of her moving overseas to hone her culinary tactics.
Natsuo did find her and urges her to leave but Rui catches them which generates misunderstandings and a list of concerns grow for Rui. Rui warns Natsuo to not give into Serizawa and cheat on her.
Natsuo later pays a visit to the stalker in prison.
Opinion: I did warm up to Serizawa. I like her for being a hard working girl. She has cute, comedic moments. Honestly, I don't know who to root for because all the girls and guys have been genuine except for the stalker.
Ch. 197 While Natsuo accompanies his mentor, a novelist, during interviews of crime victims, Serizawa finds out with help of her female friend, the one who confessed her feelings for Serizawa, that Natsuo has been in a forbidden romance with his two step sisters
Opinion: Serizawa has become very prominent during these last chapters. Out of the club members, she has demonstrated growth. Though, I wish she wasn't a love rival. She reminds me of Momo due to that Natsuo has only fallen for his sisters.
Natsuo is on top of things after his close call with death. He is close to publishing his first book about a homosexual romance between two men.
Meanwhile, Serizawa's concerns escalate as she first meets Hina and learns Natsuo had invited her to watch with him, the theater plays. She is highly concerned of how intimate Hina is with Natsuo.
Opinion: I wonder why her female friend hasn't done much. Hina has got more spotlight since Rui is absent. Natsuo is a busy bee, trying to stay in his long distance relationship, oblivious to Serizawa's efforts to win him over
I was wrong. Serizawa is battling whether she should continue or not to pursue Natsuo after confronting him and revealing she knows his secret relationships and history of his taboo love with his two step sisters.
She's one of the first characters to show disgust at Natsuo's relationship, dating his older step sister and teacher and rebounding to her younger sister
Still shaken by the stalker and stabber of her younger step brother and testifying in court, Hina tries her best to show her resolve is strong. However, a cat jumping out of the bush makes her jump out of paranoia. Natsuo tries his best to cheer her up. Hina returns those efforts by supporting Natsuo's future and happiness.
After the publication of his first book, Natsuo's life is rock by scandals of negative reviews after the publishing company markets and leaks that Natsuo was the man who was stabbed after protecting his older sister, to advantage of the buzz news. His editor tried to fight back but ends up regretting his decision. Natsuo ends up quitting the company.
I was wrong. Natsuo quits his company in this chapter as well as the theater club after experiencing writer's block despite the efforts of his friends, club, and family to cheer him up and praise his first book.
Serizawa confronts Natsuo and becomes his confidant despite her involvement to help him while having feelings for him, her actions later make things inadvertently worse
We get to see the connection which I should have seen it coming since the prodigy script writer and Natsuo's mentor share facial features
The man was divorced from his wife after his young son died in a train accident. He never saw his daughter who wasn't born at the time?
The two mend their relationships as writers but not father and daughter.
Rui notes how insecure both she and Natsuo after misunderstandings of both of them cheating on each other during the year long distance relationship
Because Natsuo confided in Serizawa and not telling Rui his writer's block, Rui is angry that Natsuo did not tell her. Nasuo was trying to not burden Rui with his problems but he inadvertently hurted Rui's feelings and betray her trust by confiding in another person.
Rui breaks up with Natsuo, stating she cannot fill in the void that his writing has gone
