This episode wasn't good. It had a lot of padding and reused scenes and heavy flashbacks for no good reason
Arthur came back?
Sig plot point - well it's a set up in introducing the rest of the captains and more world building which show desperately needs as it fails in the show not tell which a lot of anime series fail in that department
Near the end of the episode peak up interest, we are going to see Shinra's brother soon
I remember this was an interesting episode. Their little Tokyo was feudal Japan that looked like it jumped back in time. Nice world building with the I forgot his name character with X and O for his eyes. He can control and start fire.
His people have a bright view of death compared to other areas. They want him to only destroy Infernals.
Concludes the Benimaru arc. Though, it did focus on him. This was a set up for Shinra to meet his brother Sho in later episodes as the Evangelist group from last episodes target Shinra who has the Adolla Burst.
They are making a homage to Soul Eater with the skulls and the weird music they made when Shinra's legs has a spidey-sense of the enemies. We get world building from this episode about how all the animals in this world are dead. The blacksmith is a big animal fan whose father and grandfather were killed in a scheme by the plague masked guy.
The new opening theme song was fine. I feel the intensity of the song doesn't match up with the opening theme animated sequence as the content in the sequence didn't have intense, raw scenes to match the emotions of the song. The song was good but the sequence was boring as a result.
The new ending theme song has more visceral visuals to start off with the skeleton and wilted flowers. After that, we had boring visuals. I do like the addition of Shinra's family photos such as her welcoming her new baby.
I should have seen that interface spoiler in the opening theme song. Guess who didn't appear in the group shot for the opening theme song? Lisa. I had forgotten to add my prediction in my last comment. I should comment fresh because I won't forget small details like these.
Lisa would have been either killed off, be a traitor, or something.
Has the family theme but since we barely know these characters or for me, I personally have not invested in them. It doesn't hit me hard.
Highlights are the comedic parts particularly Arthur's knightly outfit. I guess Fire Force doesn't do sad and drama well for me. Trying to remember if the creator's past works, Soul Eater had some memorable sad scenes. I don't remember any.
The new guy who joined them is definitely a bad guy. The show might do a plot twist for him considering his presence in the opening theme song.
It was a weak episode because of how the arc ended in a weak, unmemorable manner. The strong parts were ironically on Shinra the main character and his debut of meeting his brother Sho for the first time after that fateful day their mother was killed. However, there was not much impact until Sho has more character development later on I presumed.
I do like Shinra called Sho cute. Joker made his appearance so battle users would be delighted about the quick battle scene.
I feel bad for our new batch of characters. This was their intro arc and joining Shinra's company.
We take a break not from the plot but to do some training to get stronger like any other regular Shonen shows. The guys didn't get defeated but they couldn't defeat the enemy last episode. It was a retreat.
I do like the crazy scientist's way of helping Shinra how to get better by just concentrating his flames to make it like a burst engine so it will be more efficient in propelling him faster with more force.
Obi's handsigns help Shinra focus to concentrate his flames.
Arthur - well he didn't get much treatment just sword practice and do less of his antics like shouting his sneak attack.
Taka: Thanks Master Menos! I'll work on finishing the Winter 2020 guide.

Dream: My second Funi poll is done. Titles I will be watching and reviewing will include Chobits, Samurai Champloo, Spice and Wolf, Gankutsuou, and Dance in the Vampire Bund. Will let folks know which one I start off tomorrow at some point.

Dream: First anime I will sample among the Funi titles is Chobits. As a heads up, the series on Funi's Youtube channel is missing the two recap episodes the series aired. Not that I'll be missing those however.

Dream: Hmmmm... looks like the version of Vampire Bund I'm seeing on Funi's YouTube channel's an edited version. A couple minutes of episode 2 were clearly removed with Mina in nothing but underwear battling human assassins. Then again, recall there was a good...

Dream: Not sure if I should be donning the nostalgia goggles or not giving a damn. Looks like the original Digimon Adventure series is getting a reboot airing starting in the Spring season.
Jan 21, 2020 3:21:13 GMT
Taka: I'll watch it if there's nothing catching my eye in Spring. winter 2020 was a weak anime season for me.

Dream: Wouldn't say it's all bad for me. Have a few titles holding my interest. Just it typically doesn't have as many major titles of note that would hold me over.

Dream: Done with Vampire Bund. Will be working on a review of it before I hop into the next Funi series. Hoping to get it up either tonight or tomorrow, depending on how lengthy my thoughts get.
