Before we go into the review, I'm not a comic book reader nor do I watch Constantine's live action tv series, so I won't be comparing these things or sharing experiences in this review. I tend to review animated films and TV series on their own merits.
The film revolves around a worldwide problem of people hallucinating and harming others or themselves. When the Justice League is busy or are unable to solve the problem, Batman decides to ask someone which involuntarily starts a formation of a team with Constantine, Zatanna, Deadman, and Etrigan/Jason Blood, that handles magical and supernatural cases called Justice League Dark.
Despite the film being compact (as I learned from experience, they are loosely based on comic book story arcs and have to trim), I like how they flesh out Deadman and Etrigan's backstories with flash back scenes. However, there were two major characters who did not have flashbacks or backstories revealed which I will cover in the next section.
If you love Constantine from the live action TV series, you will like this character as he is voiced by the same actor. I haven't had any exposure to Constantine, so personally, I'm not fond of characters like him. That won't hurt my enjoyment of the film as every series has likeable and unlikeable characters.
Strange we have Etrigan/Jason Blood and Deadman's flashback stories but not Constantine and Zatanna who are major characters in the film. Constantine has to ask help from various characters and he has a strained relationship with most of them due to his personality. It would be nice to see that flesh out or shed light a bit especially with the true villain whom I won't reveal out of spoilers. Otherwise, fans wouldn't feel bad for Constantine and this character's relationship.
They should not include Swamp Thing despite being promoted which I don't know if this was a first time for his animated film debut or in a long time, but his inclusion and then his "fate" in the film felt rushed and unnecessary. I assume fans of his comic books series might not like the portrayal and role of Swamp Thing. I haven't been acquainted with Swamp Thing but his role was strange.
I feel the romance aspect was a bit rushed and felt superficial between Constantine and Zatanna.
This isn't a bad thing as films will change outfits. I did miss Zatanna's fishnets.
Overall, the film is decent. (If I had to score it, I say a 3 out of 5.) If you are a passionate comic book fan, I assume your mileage might vary because I can't tell since I haven't read comic books. I do know character traits tend to vary based on writer. For new fans like myself, this is a good start to get to know these characters and then branch off to either Constantine's TV series, Zatanna's comic book stories, or Justice League Dark comic books.

Taka, Nice review. Swamp Thing's character in the movie is pretty accurate from his comic counterpart. His dislike of Constantine is a comic book reader Easter egg since Constantine first appeared in a Swamp Thing comic.
I miss Zatanna with her fishnets also, but her look in movie was based off her new 52 version.
Old Man Dream: Have bad news and good news regarding Pop Team Epic. Bad news, I didn't realize Tubi only had the first five episodes of the series on their site, so that's as far as I can go with it on there. Good news, Retro Crush thankfully has the full series up...

Old Man Dream: ...on their site, so I'll be watching the remainder of the series from there. Should be able to wrap it up by later this week, as I expect to be a little slower in my progression of it during the week.

Taka: That is bizarre for Tubi TV to only have 5 episodes.
