It may be weird to review a manga series that was canceled but it was published by Shueisha and Viz Media. I was a bit nostalgic and craved more of Tite Kubo's work. I did love Bleach despite its flaws.
Zombie Powder is about finding the 12 Rings of the Dead which can bring back the dead and grant immortality. That's pretty much it.
Zombie Powder serve as a precursor to Bleach. You can see the influences. The only thing that wasn't incorporated was John Elwood Shepherd, the first character you see. I'm hesitant to call him protagonist. Depending on your tastes, he was a character whose personality isn't very aggressive or assertive. Compared that to Gamma Akutabi who is the other main character is a more dominant character and can handle things himself. There is a bit of foil there. To elaborate, these two cross paths when Gamma warns John not to bring back his dead sister whom he regrets not saving her due to being extorted by some bandits.
The series had some potential. It was just starting its journey. There were some issues besides being canceled. This was my issue from what I mentioned earlier. I couldn't tell who was the protagonist. Yeah, stories can have multiple protagonists but I generally enjoy series when it focuses on one main character. What you have here is competition. The character who stands out was Gamma. He outshadows John with his mysterious backstory and the plot somehow shifts towards him when the last conflicts were in his involvement even though we jumped on to another character, Wolfgangina Lalla Getto and her case.
It's about 4 volumes long, a very short read. If you are curious, I definitely recommend checking it out. It doesn't have a satisfying ending as it's just pretty hollowed out.
Taka: I see. A global release will benefit it. Gundam did pretty good. The only few franchises that are only popular in Japan but not popular in the west - Yokai Watch comes to mind.

Master Menos: F for Respects. DMX did all his work while suffering from a drug addiction, and I almost never knew until a point. I hope his next life treats him far better.
