Jgames , I see. They could make a new category but we only get one otonoko/trap or whatever people want to use these days per year.
We had enough yuri oh wait they need 6. Well, demi ones.
I need to watch anime films. Was it a strong year for anime films? Probably not.
I mean keep in mind that I do try to watch my anime movie legally so I really cannot say since some of the anime movies I saw this year was released last year.
But if we going by Crunchyroll standard of anime movie being available across the US and not just a special screening like anime expo, then I say it was pretty solid. Not as good as last year, but that because of how long it took for them to show Your Name in theaters, that it came out in 2017 in the US. While you were lucky enough to watch it in anime expo. Also Kase-san a yuri ova I really love which can be consider a movie in my book, was only available in Anime Expo and not in any theaters or home video of some kind.
I mean I have done reviews of almost all the anime movies I saw that came out in the US this year except for Flavor of Youth which came out on Netflix and was a compilation shorts that were 30-20 minutes. That one funny enough I did not review because I thought it be difficult to review a compilation short and the fact that it was just okay.
I did not saw Digimon, Pokemon, Fate, Maginzer Z, Free, or other anime movie on franchise I do not care for ( I mean I like fate, but screw Shiro, but will try to get around to them). Also try watching the godzilla anime movie on Netflix, but they burnt my eye with bad cgi
Liz and the Blue Bird I unfortunately just did not heard about it otherwise I would have watch it even thought I never seen the Hibike anime. I mean hey a movie with yuri, sold (granted it was yuri bait, but I did not knew that at the time).
The movie I did saw was Mary and the Witch Flower, Maquia when the promised flower bloom, Mirai, Big Fish and Begonia, The Night is Short Walk on Girl, Firework, My Hero Academia Hero of two and Flavor of Youth. With all of them except Firework being anywhere from decent to really great.
Firework was just laughable bad. So I do not get why its on the nominee list when it is universally panned. The only reason I feel like its on the list is because it had a decent amount of advertising compare to some of the other anime movies. With how difficult it is to watch anime movies due to them having limited releases, I have feeling that its only on the list because people knew about those movies. Which is just a shame an amazing movie like Big Fish and Begonia which deserves more attention got snub. Along with Maquia when the promise flower bloom. I mean they were so many better option than Firework. I mean they have Netflix, Flavor of Youth is miles better than Fireworks. Hell Mary and the Witch flowers is on Netflix, just ugh. It is a shame they try to make it less of a popular vote, yet one Firework feels like is on the nominee since its more popular than the other movies.
Also I feel like Maginzer Z was there only because one of the judge was a big of the franchise, because is a movie that only huge fan of the series will like it. I have not seen the movie, but from what I seen from people review of it, is gear to people who love the series, otherwise is not that enjoyable. Its just a bizzare choice when there are better option that deserve the attention. Just sigh. I at least can laugh at the thought of someone saying let nominate Big Fish and Begonia or Maquia, and the judges just ask what the hell is that XD.
Dream: Last anime I will be covering is Gankutsuou: Count of Monte Cristo. Will start watching it tomorrow. Not sure how much longer I can keep myself up at this point.

Taka: Depending on my energy, I can watched up to 2 AM. Usually with work, I fall asleep on anime series that don't have a lot of action.

Master Menos: Finally got out of the fast food job. It was a graceful exit, but to be honest, I'll miss some of those guys. Got a sprained ankle from it since September, so I'll finally focus on healing that back at the family home.

HungryWorld: Well if anyone remembers what happened to Pingu in the City, with it being joke 10/10 scored on MAL just to get it into the top 10 anime... well now is Ishuzoku Reviewers' turn. Seems that in response to Funimation's cancel people boosted the score hard.

Taka: What? That sounds so weird.

Master Menos: It's damn awesome to be honest. It shot to 1st Place!

Dream: On the subject of MAL, it looks like the admin are planning to tweak their scoring system for titles to reduce the likelihood of voters artificially inflating the ranking of certain titles.

Master Menos: My V-Day present will be belated this year because I "Had some trouble with ol' Johnny." (That's your hint.)

Dream: The joys of adulthood. Joking aside, plan to at least attempt to wrap up Gankutsuou sometime early to mid next week so I can get done with my Funi voted titles. Afterward, not doing any more voting for a while considering how long this had been taking.

Dream: Done with Gankutsuou. Will be working to get a review up for it by sometime tonight.
Feb 16, 2020 20:57:26 GMT
Taka: Great job, Dream! I should do some reviews, too.

Dream: Looks like MAL's currently down due to the site getting hit by a major denial-of-service attack, just as a heads up.
Feb 18, 2020 17:55:23 GMT
Taka: I added 2 polls tonight. Also, I wonder why MAL was down. Crunchyroll also had it, too.
Feb 20, 2020 4:05:24 GMT
Dream: Not sure about Crunchyroll. For MAL, the DoS attacks may have been retaliation by those who dabbled into manipulating the site's scoring system for certain anime titles. The admin on MAL announced they would be overhauling the system to prevent said...
