I was bit confused on the news. I thought they were adding a character from Higurashi?
The "Kita Sabato in New Chitose 2019" event at the New Chitose Airport announced on Saturday that production on a new Dropkick on My Devil! (Jashin-chan Dropkick) anime episode has been green-lit for a mid-November premiere, before the second season premieres next spring. The new "Chitose" episode will debut a new character named Lierre (Rie-ru), the head of Pekora and the other angels, who descends to Earth in the form of a little girl for a certain objective. Chitose City native Miharu Hanai will voice her.
The episode will debut on Chitose City's official website. The episode is funded by Chitose's hometown tax program, in which taxpayers can donate to city programs in exchange for tax breaks and other incentives. The story will deal with the process and incentives of the hometown tax program.
Saturday's event featured the anime's voice actresses Aina Suzuki (Jashin-chan) and Nichika Omori (Yurine Hanazono). As the crowdfunded unit Destiny Noisy (Desu no), they sang the songs "Jinbōchō Aika" and "Tanjun Meikai! SomethingDevils!!" The mayor of Chitose, Kōtarō Yamaguchi, personally announced the new "Chitose" episode.
Been watching season 2 without having watched season 1.
It's not confusing after getting used to the characters and with being a comedy show, there aren't much I missed out other than characters that appeared last season and got established.
This season's new characters were an angel that tried to kill 2 other halo-less angels (they don't explain about heaven and whether angels can get their halos back).
--and a Jiangshi, a hopping Chinese zombie
The plot's goal to me was Jashin trying to get home in episode 1. After that, it's been mindless antics. Ep 10 got back to that plot where it was revealed Yurine needed a third volume to get the return spell. Jashin could hunt for the third volume or kill Yurine which always ends in failure for the past season.
We go into Jashin's backstory but not much of Yurine's. The show does build on her character.
The show has been meta about its kickstart and breaking the 4th wall.
As for ecchi content, nothing too extreme. For violence, there are a lot of blood splatter from Yurine cutting Jashin for anything Jashin did something stupid. Jashin is a gambling and drinking addict but she is talented at cooking and sewing (like when she made cosplay stuff for Yurine who was trying to cheer up Jashin who wanted to go home for Hell Festival with her 2 childhood friends, Medusa and Minos). She doesn't do anything productive.
Crunchyroll is getting ready to launch a special addition to the Dropkick on My Devil!! Dash series. Episode 12 is officially set to debut on Thursday, April 30 at 8:30am Pacific Time, which is the result of Chitose-city's hometown tax project that brought in funds for the "Chapter Chitose" episode.
The project was originally launched because Aina Suzuki, the voice behind protagonist Jashin-chan, was born in Hokkaido's Chitose-city in 1995. It ended up pulling in a total of 184,380,000 yen in 29 days between December 2 and December 31, 2019, making the new episode a reality!

Old Man Dream: For the Pixar films from the poll I did up to yesterday, I'll be watching A Bug's Life first.

Taka: I'll be back later tonight. Hopefully, my internet will get better and stay stable. It's randomly disconnecting.

Old Man Dream: Something I hate doing when I had initially promised, but having second thoughts on the Pixar movie viewing I promised. Four months going through the retrospective has me itching to want to dabble back into older anime titles again.

Old Man Dream: Yeah, sorry guys. But I'm reneging on this. Been immersed enough in Disney the past four months and want to get back deep into things with anime. Maybe down the line, I'll do a Pixar retrospective if I have enough a case of anime burnout. But back to anime

Taka: I'm not sure when to do the seasonal derby for Winter 2021 since Netflix or other companies might pop up a new anime.

Old Man Dream: Guess even with Weathering with You, Shinkai's still dabbling into his typical storytelling involving long-distance relationships, at least when it comes to Hina and Hodaka's circumstances. Only about an hour into the film thus far.
Jan 16, 2021 15:40:36 GMT
Old Man Dream: Hmmmmm.... And can't believe I'm saying this with my indifference for both: Your Name > Weathering With You.
Jan 16, 2021 18:32:40 GMT
Old Man Dream: Done with the film. Think there's enough with this where I can put a review together. Expect something up sometime later today.
Jan 16, 2021 19:19:02 GMT
Taka: Planning to watch Weathering with You. I don't remember if I watched all of the older Shinkai films. There is a shift from the sad romance to happier romance if I'm not mistaken.

Taka: Watching the Maleficent live action movie.
