Can you guys give me some examples of Eldritch abominations in manga/anime/vns? Specifically, ones that aren't lovecraftian or from the sick mind that is Junji Ito, as I have read all of those. I love Eldritch beings and cosmic horror as a whole, but there is so few of it. Help a brother out?
Powerlvlsrbullsh1t Where would you draw the line for calling it an eldritch abomination. Does the creature need to be rather messed up like those from Stephen King's The Mist or are something just above the typical demon enough? Do they need be cosmic horrors or is it alright if its on a much smaller scale?
Anyways Orient with their Oni might count if it doesn't need to be on cosmic scale, that is some acid trip logic in the monsters there.
Besides all the surprisingly grotesque abilities she herself demonstrates, one of her facets, The Black Maw, is an abomination straight out of Lovecraft that collapses the mind of its victims if they aren’t just straight up devoured by it on sight.

El_Directo, HungryWorld, CosmicNoirTear, Thanks for the suggestions guys. Assuming you are also interested in this topic, I have found pretty much the most perfect example: A short VN called Saya No Uta by Gen Urobuchi. The main character is afflicted with an ailment that causes him to see, smell, taste, hear, etc. literally everything as if it is made of gore and see humans as disgusting eldritch abominations. I highly recomend it to everyone, but be warned: It is one of the most fucked up stories I have ever read, and it also has a lot of ero scenes, but the ero scenes actually makes sense in context of the story and are often very uncomfortable.
Now I am confused. The opening post implies the two are different. Had to look up Lovecraft as well. I do recognize the likes of Cthulu from that one anime.
H.P. Lovecraft was the guy who essentially invented Eldritch abominations as well as the genre of cosmic horror. The gods he created include Cthulu, Azathoth and Shub-niggurath. Essentially, all Lovecraftian gods are Eldritch, but not all Eldritch beings are Lovecraftian. When I said I didn't want something Lovecraftian, I just meant I didn't want another story about Cthulu or Nyarlathotep, which show up in anime all the time.
Eva01 I also thought of recommending Remina, but then i saw "no Ito Junji" in the opening post. Well darn it Remina just had to came from the messed up mind that is Ito Junji. And it was such a nice horror story at that. Just sad that the anime adaptations of his works lack a bit in terms of impact.
-Idea of Evil and God Hand (Berserk) -Apocalymon (Digimon Adventure) - If not for the Lovecraft ban, would place Tamers' D-Reaper on this. -Father (Full Metal Alchemist) -Alucard (Hellsing) -Devil Gundam (G Gundam) -Walpurgisnacht and Kriemheld Gretchen (Madoka Magica) -Anti-Spiral (Gurren Lagann)
Dream: Last anime I will be covering is Gankutsuou: Count of Monte Cristo. Will start watching it tomorrow. Not sure how much longer I can keep myself up at this point.

Taka: Depending on my energy, I can watched up to 2 AM. Usually with work, I fall asleep on anime series that don't have a lot of action.

Master Menos: Finally got out of the fast food job. It was a graceful exit, but to be honest, I'll miss some of those guys. Got a sprained ankle from it since September, so I'll finally focus on healing that back at the family home.

HungryWorld: Well if anyone remembers what happened to Pingu in the City, with it being joke 10/10 scored on MAL just to get it into the top 10 anime... well now is Ishuzoku Reviewers' turn. Seems that in response to Funimation's cancel people boosted the score hard.

Taka: What? That sounds so weird.

Master Menos: It's damn awesome to be honest. It shot to 1st Place!

Dream: On the subject of MAL, it looks like the admin are planning to tweak their scoring system for titles to reduce the likelihood of voters artificially inflating the ranking of certain titles.

Master Menos: My V-Day present will be belated this year because I "Had some trouble with ol' Johnny." (That's your hint.)

Dream: The joys of adulthood. Joking aside, plan to at least attempt to wrap up Gankutsuou sometime early to mid next week so I can get done with my Funi voted titles. Afterward, not doing any more voting for a while considering how long this had been taking.

Dream: Done with Gankutsuou. Will be working to get a review up for it by sometime tonight.

Taka: Great job, Dream! I should do some reviews, too.

Dream: Looks like MAL's currently down due to the site getting hit by a major denial-of-service attack, just as a heads up.
Feb 18, 2020 17:55:23 GMT
Taka: I added 2 polls tonight. Also, I wonder why MAL was down. Crunchyroll also had it, too.
Feb 20, 2020 4:05:24 GMT
Dream: Not sure about Crunchyroll. For MAL, the DoS attacks may have been retaliation by those who dabbled into manipulating the site's scoring system for certain anime titles. The admin on MAL announced they would be overhauling the system to prevent said...

Dream: ...manipulation last week.
