TV Series' Synopsis:
Introducing the Crystal Gems! Garnet, Amethyst, Pearl… and Steven. Steven might not know how to use the magical powers that come out of his bellybutton, but that doesn’t stop him from joining the Gems on their magical adventures!
Steven comes back to earth hoping to pick back up his life with the Crystal Gems, but trouble looms suddenly from a mysterious figure. Steven Universe The Movie premieres on Cartoon Network on September 2!
I finished season 4. Need to find a place to watch season 5.
The small cast benefit me since they have the attention and spotlight to grow and develop over the past 4 seasons. Pearl - I find her annoying but she was relatable with her low self esteem and devotion to Rose. She grew on me. Same with enemies becoming allies and enemies just staying enemies. Fusion sometimes alludes to relationship themes. Though, they cut out the dancing later in the series which I found it unique. The show has a lot of anime references and fusion was Dragon Ball inspired for sure. The dancing reminded me and how it was styled for this show.
Some of the finales are weak and unmemorable. It was less at stake and had less impact on the series.
A lot of slice of life stuff. Blue and Yellow crashed the wedding. Got some character development for them and White Diamond towards the end. Lars had some transformation and Sadie too. Trying to remember: the whole reveal about Rose Quartz made me realize the hints. But still, the things she did - people got over it pretty quick. The only reason why is that Gems don't die. They got corrupted. They fixed up them up all with all the Diamonds being there.
I did rent the movie a while back and forgot to comment on it. The movie really did illustrate how messed up Steven's mom is. So weird, how Steven and Pearl for sure and everyone loved her but as the series progress, it was a big reveal.
Last night, I bought Future on Amazon which is a season of 20 episodes. It was the final season which I realized a bit late. Binged it.
I might have to do a review in a separate post.
The series is unexpectedly hard hitting with adult changes minus adult reproductive health such as friends drifting apart, romance burning out or being rekindled, Steven trying to find his calling during peacetime and rehabilitation of gems, Steven wanting to help ends up getting help
Most of the issues stem from Steven not being in touch with Earth culture, regular human lives.
Without spoilers, the series comes in full circle with Steven and the Gems.
Old Man Dream: Fun fact about The Rescuers: It has a dirty little secret you can find in older releases of the movie. (NSFW, as a heads up)

Taka: Didn't see anything until I read the description and comments. It goes by really fast. Edit: Someone really sneak in a picture. Edit 2: Tried pausing to find it. It's harder to track compared to REZERO's IF pictures

Old Man Dream: Set the playback speed on the video to 0.25x. Should make it easier to get a good pause on one of the two naughty bits. Both appear around 0:19ish in the video.
