One Piece Season: Fall 1999 Genres & Themes: Action, Adventure, Shonen, Drama, Comedy Producers: Toei Animation
Plot: Monkey D. Luffy embarks on his quest to find the legendary treasure "One Piece" and become the Pirate King, along with his crew: the swordsman Zoro, a former pirate-hunter who specializes in three sword techniques; Nami, a manipulative female thief and navigator; Usopp, an excellent sniper and a habitual liar; and Sanji, the suave, womanizing chef with the deadly kicks. Combines comedy with moments of very character-driven drama.
I caught up to the latest episode. Didn't expect Doflamingo to come to Luffy in the well. Every arc, Luffy and his gang take a long time to find and beat the bad guy after settling in a new place and finding the issues with that new place. Sabo's scene was touching when he swore to save Luffy after losing Ace. I might have missed this, but I do wish to see why Sabo couldn't get to Marineford to save/attempted Ace back then.
Loved the Franky scene where the girls freak out Franky's crotch.
Kanjuro's face is finally revealed. I was wrong about the clown part. He resembles a Kubuki. His powers remind me of Sai from Naruto. He has that classic One Piece quirkiness. He can't draw.
For an episode titled after him, he only has a few scenes compared to Luffy's allied forces against Doflamingo's executives. Oh, I did not expect giant toy soldiers at the 3rd level. Dellinger had the most spotlight in this episode and beating the stuffing out of Luffy's forces.
I hope in the future: I want to see Dellinger and Sanji face off. That will be awesome.
I thought the princess didn't exist, but she does! Kanjuro and Kine'mon join up with Luffy's gang. The biggest highlights were pretty much Franky who stole a young woman's kiss, and it was oozing with lots of 'man" themes and hard boiled, too. I can't imagine what kids would think of what an ideal man is based on One Piece.
Sugar wakes up and declare a war against Usopp and any guys with long noses. Also, Robin and Bart joins the fray against Gladius. It's too bad Rebecca didn't fall down since she had the key and her two partners, Robin and Bart, drop down and reunited with Luffy and Tra-guy.
A tearful reunion between Rebecca and Kyros! With Law out of cuffs, he and Luffy will deal a world of pain. Before we get to the final boss, Sugar is going to be their next obstacle. What's Usopp doing? A giant slingshot?
Man, I haven't had a messed up and really sad episode since punk hazard arc. Law saw his sisterly nun, his sister, and his parents die. What's worse is that he didn't get to see the body of his sister since the house burnt down. I knew the nun and the children will be gun. I didn't want it to come true.
There was a One Piece Jeanist contest where you vote for your favorite characters.
Well lots of things happened in the episode. Doffy's flashback on how they were treated horribly due to being former Celestial Dragons. Don't get why Doffy is mad at his father instead of the people tormenting him and his family. It's not his fault.
On the montage, Dellinger joined.
The biggest thing that happened was Corazon speaking. I thought for sure he was mute. So Law had middle initial of D. Let's find out what that could mean.
Left with a cliffhanger. We all know what happened to Corazon. He died. How he died is what we don't know. Leave it to Oda for fleshing out a character well enough in a short time for us to warm up to the character fast.
Continuing the tragic backstory of Corazon, it's not over yet. I like how things were looking good until Vergo and Doflamingo show up. Now, things are taking a turn of the worse yet again. I enjoy this despite how bad things look. Corazon is just smiling and freaking out poor Law.
I can never expect things right from One Piece. (We know he's going to die. How he reacts to his fate is really different) They are unpredictable which make things so entertaining.
The conclusion of Corazon's backstory. It was done pretty well, connecting Law's fate with Corazon's fate. It was very touching episode from Corazon's last moments to Law getting away from Doflamingo's group during the Navy's bombings. No one heard Law's cries as Corazon's powers and cannon balls muffle it
Haven't seen the Sabo special yet. Going to save that Sunday afternoon.
Old Man Dream: Yeah. After Tenchi Muyo, Masaki Kajishima dabbled into several other harem titles, some of which not being based in the Tenchi timeline, which all have the same resolution of where the male lead "has them all." But they aren't really as popular.

Taka: I need to finish Geminar and GXP. Just cancel FUNimation which leaves me until July 23rd unless there are at least 3 shows that catch my eye from this season.

Old Man Dream: Believe GXP was pulled from Funi's streaming site last year because their digital rights to the series expired. But you should still be able to stream War on Geminar on their site.

Taka: Darn, for some reason I thought it was still there. I finished Geminar. Well, I guess I proceed and watch the rest of those OVAs on CR.

Taka: I think I can write a review on Geminar. I wished I made a discussion thread and kept notes on it. I tend to forget small details and make mistakes when interpreting character actions.

Taka: How strange, when I log in, the colors via Fire Fox disappear. If I log out, I can see the color for hyperlink words. Anyways, been noticing God of High School has been the talk for WWE folks.
