Deep inland on the mightiest island of Japan, the people of the mountains have lead their lives in relative peace since the fall of civilization. Clans of a few hundred people at the most, kept in an uneasy balance with each other by interbreeding and numbers that could never afford loss. The outside world mostly overlooks them. They lack the resources to interest the Razian empire to their west or threaten the cities to their east. The Redrock clan has always resented this, and finally a way to make a name for themselves has arrived. There are riches to be had in the settlements below, and they have the power to take them.
The village was a small one, looking even smaller against the vast mountains it was set in the foothills of. There were no more than twenty houses in the whole village, all made of stone with thatched roofs except for one. The house that stood out appeared to be no more than a burrowed out hill, with a steel door set in it and little stone steps making it easier to approach. Chickens and cows roamed freely, some drinking from the stream that fed into irrigation for the crops. The village was clearly marked with the signs of war. The stream was a mere trickle, dammed up somewhere in the mountain it came from. One house was halfway destroyed, two walls demolished outright with the others leaning dangerously. Metal fragments of some sort lay around the cratered home. Newly-filled graves were marked with young saplings not far outside the village. The steel door leading down into the special home was marked with deep slashes and two marks like spears less than a foot apart. All of this was apparent from the trading post by the village, a frequent stop for travelers.
"HURRY! GET HIM INSIDE! " yelled a doctor wearing a blue radiation suit in the corner of the room. As the doctor prepares a syringe, a few bodies, each wearing their own radiation suit, pushes through a plastic curtain with a stretcher. On the stretcher was a barely living person screaming in complete agony. The tent's most recent patient is currently wearing a military uniform and if not caring to count the dirt marks and wrinkles, the person's clothes are perfectly fine. Though the same could not be said for his body. His once jet black hair has now turn white, and his fingernails have complete fallen off his body. The first layer of his skin has also fallen off along with his teeth. "Signs that he is progressing into stage 2." notes one of the people carrying the stretcher. "QUICKLY NOW! PLACE HIM NEXT TO THE OTHERS!" On the opposite side of the tent are half a dozen other bodies suffering from the same fate as the man on the stretcher. Four men and two women lay perfectly still, yet there eyes are wide awake. Yet, the strangest thing about their appearances would have to be their blue skin. Once they place the man on the bed to the far right side, they immediately hold him down, though that did not require much effort, due to the person's muscles beginning to lose strength. The doctor thrusts the syringe into the solider's neck, and before long the men's screaming died down a bit. "Please work!." said the doctor in a begging tone. The man wanted to use all his strength to yell, the pain was unbearable. The only words that he said before his skin turns completely blue and he become paralysis was, "Kill me!" In less than a minute since the man entered the quarantine zone, he had already progress into stage two of this unknown disease. For those wondering where the stage three victims are, they are already inside the furnace.
Thirty minutes later, the doctor is now wearing his typical lab coat, which he was able to put on after going through a intense disinfection process. He rushes inside a rather massive tent with the letters, "Headquarters," stitch above the entrance. He walks in and immediately salutes to the man behind the desk. "Report." commands the man behind the desk. "Sir Dalton, we have currently seven in stage two, and ten in stage one." "How many died." "So far five." "Sir, I think its best if we should-" "-No!" "Sir, please. There is nothing to be done. They have all requested euthanasia." Jack gets up from his chair and grabs an open letter on his desk. As he puts the letter back inside an envelope, the doctor spots a name written on the envelope, "Nikolas Physema." The commander walks as best as he could towards the door. Before he could leave, the doctor asks, "Sir, I need your answer." "And I already gave it." said Jack in a cold tone. He walks outside and waiting for him is a young looking teenage girl, with two horses behind her. Jack gets on one horse and the girl the other. Before Jack's horse gallops, the doctor emerges and asks, "Sir, where are you going?" Turning his head to face the doctor, he says, "The village in the mountains." The doctor is confuse by his answer, yet before he could ask a follow up question, Jack's horse sprints away with his companion's horse doing the same. As they ride, the two exchange no words between them the all way. Yet, this silence is not one to be confuse with awkwardness, rather it is simply the result of these two personalities. It was not until Dalton spots the village does a word escape from his mouth, "There."
Two figures approached a small village, "man, why do we have to come to this boring place?" Lectro sighed. "We are here to help these people with their money problems you idiot, did you even listen to any of the orders back at the base? Never mind, don't answer that question. just do as I say and nothing else" Alisa explained. Lectro and Alisa had bags of food with them for the village people. Lectro walked up to the first house he saw, "hey, I have some food to share with you" he said. As Lectro reached into the bag a masked figure ran by and stole the bag. "HEEEYYY!" Lectro yelled. Lectro shot the thief's right leg with a bolt of lightning, the thief's mask fell off and a sad woman was now running away with the food bag. "That girl just stole our food, she probably needed it though" Lectro said. "This whole village needs it you idiot, now we must go back home to more food!" Alisa yelled. "sorry, we will come back with more food" Lectro said as he slowly turned his back.
Lectro and Alisa had began walking back to their base when an old voice called, "hey, you two kids come here and take this food here". Lectro turned around to see an old farmer with a large bag of food in each hand. Lectro ran over to the man without asking a question, "Thanks, we appreciate your kindness sir" Lectro said. "But how do you know that food isn't poisoned?" The old farmer asked. Lectro dropped the bags of food, "What the hell are you pulling here old timer?" he said. The farmer smiled, "but don't worry, there is nothing wrong with that food there" he laughed. Alisa stormed over to Lectro and took both of the bags, "I am going to get some work done here!" she said. Alisa walked away without another word.

As the horses approached the town, a group came to greet them halfway. All wore bedraggled clothing of various stages of wear, but despite the tired looks in their eyes, there was also fire there. All three wore black pants, with the woman on the right also covered in a full long sleeved shirt with an orange sash, slashes torn in the sides of her pants and sleeves so that her bronze skin looked like stripes. The others were topless. A more bulky man with a golden mane of hair falling around his head stood in the middle, bushy face set sternly and hands ready to use the wide-bladed spear he held. The third stood a bit further off to the side, a woman with musculature between the other two, reddish-brown bush of hair tied in a ponytail and arms already up like a boxer. Unlike the others, she almost looked playful instead of stern and serious. An olive green scarf hung limp about her neck.
The golden man stepped to the forefront and gestured with his spear. "I'm sorry, but you'll have to leave the horses here. Your weapons too. You will have to be searched." His sonorous voice carried a level of command to it. He glanced around Jack and saw Lectro and Alisa coming down the same path. "You as well. Halt and be searched."
Lectro looked down at the giant bag of food in his right hand, "I guess that's fair" he said. Alisa stopped and thought before speaking, "we cannot just trust this guy Lectro, he could be after this food like the woman from earlier you idiot!" Alisa yelled. Lectro stepped back, "How do we know we can trust you? we have been through a bunch of trouble since we arrived here!" Lectro shouted. Alisa handed Lectro the bag of food that she was holding, she drew her sword. "Are you going to reply or are we going to have to cut the answers out of you?" Alisa asked.
As his female companion reaches for her sword, Jack gives her a stern look, which causes her to rest her hand back at her side. He looks at what he could only assume be the town's guards, as bandits don't tend to look so tired. He makes no comment at the person pulling at her sword. He waits for a moment, trying to figure out how to handle the situation. Eventually, he dismounts from his horse, and commands his companion to do the same. He walks calmly towards the small band wearing black pants and offers his body for examination. He carries no weapon, so he has no issues on that front. As for the young looking woman accompanying him, she seems unwilling to forgo her weapon, especially when someone else has pulled out their own sword. During this moment he ask, "Would it be acceptable if my companion waits here with the horses, Or is this going to be a problem?" His facial expression and voice reveals no fear whatsoever; in fact, his demeanor reveal a small glimpse of how dangerous it would be for these people to antagonize him here and now. He is on a mission to save his comrades, and he will do whatever it takes to accomplish that goal.

The leonine man nodded in respect when Jack stepped from his horse. "Your companion may wait here. Torado, search him." The completely covered woman stepped up to Jack and searched him all over with feather-light fingers while the man turned to the aggressive younger people, shirtless woman behind him clearly thrilled at the possibility of a fight. "Our village has been attacked multiple times over the past few month. That in mind, any travelers we haven't already seen must prove themselves safe. So kindly, leave your weapons here and submit yourself to a search if you're going to enter our village." He explained with thorough patience. "He's clear." Torado declared, stepping away from Jack.
Alisa calmed herself before putting away her sword, "Lectro, let's go through with this. We can complete our mission and feed these poor villagers," Alisa said. Lectro dropped all of his items and walked over to the covered woman to be searched. "Please make this quick, I don't want to lose my food again," Lectro said with an agitated tone. Alisa waited by the food for Lectro to finish being searched. Lectro looked at Alisa with a calm facial expression, Alisa slowly dropped her things before walking over to Lectro.
Jack's female companion did not like the idea of separating from her boss, but she knew already that between them two of them exists a few ways to communicate even with significant distance. Still, she finds no comfort in being left behind in the meantime, though she already figure out her boss's reasons the moment he let himself be searched. Without needing to make any verbal agreements, she takes the horses with her and travels a bit outwards in the distance. She plans to wait here until she is needed, and until then, she will remain quite and alert.
Without wasting time, after his examination Jack continues to address the guards, "I'm here in search of a excellent doctor, does anyone know where I could find such a person?"

"Jill, search them." The golden man commanded, and the woman with the scarf grinned as she hopped over. She moved oddly, like some sort of fast limp. She was much less gentle than Torado, roughly grabbing at every pocket and nook. "Yeah, they're clean." She pocketed any small weapons they had and moved back to give them a quick overlook. "The boss? Very well. Go to the steel door in the center of town with the food you brought and your injured friend. As for you..." The huge man turned to Alisa and Lectro. "If you are here to help, you should go with him.
Lectro looked at Alisa, who had a very menacing look on her face. "I don't like the way she touched me, but I guess I can deal with it since this will all be over soon" Alisa said. Lectro began following the group ahead of him, with Alisa walking cautiously behind him. A loud screech could be heard up ahead, moments later Alisa stopped walking. "When will we get our weapons back? I hear trouble up ahead. I don't care about what happens to you people, but I will protect my own," Alisa said with a firm voice. Lectro quickly interrupted, "don't mind my friend here, she only like beauty and death" he said.
Jack begins to walk at a surprisingly steady pace towards the center of the town. Even with only a singular good leg to use, he seems to have travel a decent amount of distance without much trouble. During this short walk, he makes sure to map out the town and familiarize himself with strategic spots for military tactics. He had no intention of attacking the village, but as a commander planning out military locations is just second nature to the man. He also spends some bandwidth on thinking about the young strangers with the food. If he wasn't here for an extremely urgent business, he would have taken the time to talk to them in length, maybe even offer them a spot in his ranks if they turn out to have no other obligations to another institution. Besides his gift for spotting good advantage points of the terrain, he also has an ability to see the talent and potential in people.
As he approaches a gouged up metal door, his mind narrows down its focus to strictly finding the man that Nikolas Physema inform him of in his letter. Stopping wishing a few inches of the door, he lifts his right hand and knocks three times with a strong back fist. He feels the sound waves spread from the door to all corners of the building inside. He takes a step back and waits patiently for the door to open.

"Don't mind my friend here, she only like beauty and death." The golden man opened his jaws to answer, but Jill interrupted. "There's plenty of both to be offered here!" Her voice was strange, ringing with an accent not of this land. "The bandits who've been stealing our stuff have tons of loot. We don't have much use for most of it, so if you came with me to take them out, you could have the lion's share." She put a hand on her hip and extended the other on friendship, extending a palm clad in fingerless gloves. "Jill has a point. We must remain here to guard the village, but you could help and would be rewarded to the best of our capability."
He gave a shallow bow. "I am Myanmur. I humbly ask you to help us. If you accept, follow the soldier to the center of our village and tell the boss you intend to help." His eyes didn't plead and his voice didn't beg. Beyond the threshold he guarded, Jack rapped his knuckles on the imposing steel door. There was silence for a second, then a great clattering of bolts and chains being moved. Finally, it swung open. "Who are you?" A preteen boy with scruffy blonde hair stood behind the door, long feet bare and as filthy as the labcoat he was clad in. Behind him there was a steep set of stairs, dimly lit by smokeless torches. An eerie elongated mask peered around the corner, nondescript in the darkness.
Lectro stood stiffly with his arms at his sides. "Hello sir, we are here to assist with anything to help this village," Lectro explained. Alisa slowly approached, nodding her head with her eyes close. "We're here to get the dirty work done, don't hesitate to put us on the battlefield," Alisa calmly stated. Lectro noticed how calm Alisa was, despite the man's dangerous appearance. "So what will you have us accomplish first sir," Lectro asked.
Before the door open, he already could get a feel for the person about to open the door via his keen senses, which also picks up on the mask fellow, who's presence has no intimidating affect on him whatsoever. When he finally witnesses the young looking lad person in front of him, Jack isn't too surprise by his appearance and immediately asks the boy in his typical serious, yet respectful, tone that he would give to anyone, "Are you the healer I have been searching for?" Due to entering into a special military service at a young age, the cripple commander has never develop the habit of treating children with a soft attitude, but instead displays the same front that he would give to his own soldiers.

The child looked confused for a second. "Healer...? Oh, you wanted the boss. He bolted down the stairs with superhuman speed, feet seeming to elongate futher, letting the light strike the masked figure. The thief who had stolen Alisa and Lectro's food earlier recognized her former targets and ran as well, nowhere near their speed. "Both of you calm down!" A voice came from far down, stairs providing an amplifier. "My apologies, those two are the only children in the village. They get wound up without anybody else to play with." A short old man, about 5'3", climbed around the corner, leaning on a walking stick carved with some sort of strange, unidentifiable animal head for a grip. His body showed signs of former strength, with shoulders that were still broad, clear even under his heavy coat. His grey hair was tied back in a ponytail, a beard that looked like it was well groomed not long ago draping over his jaws. "Let me have a look at who needs help first. In the meantime... well, it would be nice to have help around here." He looked at Jack carefully. "While I examine your friend, could you do a task like these kind youngsters? No disease cures swiftly, so you will have time."
"I have no issues with performing a few tasks in the meantime. Tell me what you need, and I'll get it done. And it is not a friend that needs help sir, but many men under my command. In fact, your patients are not even in town doctor. They are a few miles away in a hospital tent waiting for you. Also..." He reaches in his pocket to pull out the letter from Nikolas Physema. "I was told that if you receive this letter from a former patient of yours, that would help establish a good level of trust between us. I would appreciate it greatly if you can quickly travel to my camp and examine my infected troops. I would have brought them here, but sadly we don't have the means to transport them without risking a spread to the healthy members of my squadron. I do however have a method available to take you from here to there in a swift fashion." He stares at the doctor without blinking once while he waits for his reply.

"Hm. Nikolas. That's a name I haven't heard in a while. Is he doing alright?" He shook his head at the suggestion of traveling to the camp. "I can't set foot outside the village. The creature that made the marks on the door... she's after me. She blames me for... what she became." His gaze fell into space like he was looking somewhere far away. "Give Mel directions. He's faster than any horse you may have." The blond kid leaned around the corner at his name being mentioned, giving Jack a quizzical look.
Jack continues to speak with a respectful, yet strong tone in his voice, "Doctor, my men can't afford to move from their location by means of physical transportation. Yet, If this creature you speak of is the only issue behind your inability to travel, then I will simply remove the obstacle for you." Jack's initial plan isn't to kill the creature, he would want to engage this problem via a more peaceful method and solution. However, it this things turns out ugly, he would not be afraid to use force. More so than his typical self will he be quicker to deal with the creature with violence due to the current situation of his own troops' lives being in danger and him having to accomplish the task within a short enough time frame to prevent their deaths. "My men do not have much time, so I would prefer if you could describe all the important details relating to this creature as quickly as possible to me. Such as its abilities, weaknesses, and its location if you happen to posse such vital knowledge."
