These are the rules you formed, not mine. Otherwise, you need to update them.
1. With this being an anime/ manga site, any Battle thread created must include at least one anime and/or manga character. Any match created in here that doesn't include one will be moved to the Off-Topic Battle section of the forum.

тиваненк Pretty common knowledge at this point to know LN characters are fine with how frequently their used here but sure, Yusuke Can you update the rules so that it also includes Light Novels and Visual Novel characters?
It's classified as a novel. Novels do strangely enough have illustrations. Light Novel is this:
A light novel (ライトノベル raito noberu) is a style of Japanese novel primarily, but not exclusively, targeting high-school and middle-school students (young adult demographic). "Light novel" is a wasei-eigo, or a Japanese term formed from words in the English language. Light novels are often called ranobe (ラノベ) or LN in the West. The average length of a light novel is about 50,000 words, the equivalent size of an American novel, and are usually published in bunkobon size (A6, 10.5 cm × 14.8 cm), often with dense publishing schedules. One of the most remarkable characteristics of a light novel is that they are illustrated with anime and manga art style, often being adapted into such mediums. They are mainly published in separate book volumes, while some of them have their chapters serialized in anthology magazines before collection in book form, comparable to how manga are published.
I don't see the harm of moving it in the off-topic section since you guys, every time we move it, you guys fear it will not get exposure. We create these to organize the threads and you guys have to use this sub sections.
The way the current rules is written is plain and simple. You are going to have to use "anime, manga, ln, vn" incarnations. The rest go in the off-topic. It doesn't matter if their original roots were anime, manga, vn, TV, or whatever. Whatever is being used has to be from anime, manga, ln, vs.
If we change the rules include adaptations of anime, manga, ln, vs, it might be complicated when we deal with comic book characters being adapted into anime and other things.

Taka And that is what this book is. It's for that demographic and written in the style of one. Seriously, Taka, for starters your going by a wiki which before you didn't take in a previous discussion, and what's more this is from just the wiki saying novel as opposed to light novel.
I'm sorry if I'm being pushy but these rules need to be looked over since their inconsistent and a bit unclear. For example, Batman is fine in a Vs Thread since he's got manga versions of himself. Same should apply to both Kars and DIO who are mainly anime/manga characters.

Taka Actually my example was based on a thread I remember getting locked in the old site of Batman against some other non-anime/manga character. Than it got unlocked when I think you looked into Batman having a manga or anime adaptation and saw that he did.
Not sure if the rules have changed since than or not. I am aware non-anime characters can be in the main Vs Section if their put against an anime character though.
The old site was designed differently. We didn't have a sub section for off-topic battles. I don't remember much. I think we did allow off-topic because we only have one section.
The only things I remember controversially moving was non vs matches such as Kamehahaha vs Galick Gun and then this type of match "Who can Beat What XXXX?" and we lock threads that didn't have the label joke in the title or opening post.
Originally, the rules didn't mention it. We moved outside of the vs section. Then when I proposed we make a ruling and decide what to do with them. The mods who voted they were not vs matches were the mods from Comic Vine. If you remember their rules, who can beat what is treated as a non vs match. The voting in Anime Vice almost got to gridlock until Dream voted for vs matches. Then, it was classified as a vs match.
I spend 3 days or so moving every Who can Beat XXX back into the vs section.
Back to the topic, I don't remember the old rules quite exactly. When the new site is set up, we definitely had to modify rules and re-update them due to infrastructure. We had those sub sections for a reason. I remember Joke because we had issues with Bruce and others not labeling. This allievated users from having to write the word joke in the title field or opening posts. For Off-Topic, I can't remember why we needed a sub section.
I have to go back to WayBack Machine and look at the original rules.
CosmicNoirTear , Taka , We could maybe revise it in the future to allow for any incarnation of a character (Within reason obviously), so long as their primary source material is one of the 4 mentioned, to also be covered by the rule.
It should be fine the way it is for now though.
They should honestly make the distinction between Light Novel and actual Novel far more defined than it currently is though, would make a situation like this easier for everyone to resolve quickly.
