Atlus USA announced on Thursday that its release of the Persona 5 Royal (Persona 5 The Royal in Japan) PlayStation 4 role-playing game in the West will feature subtitles in English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish — a first for the Persona game franchise.
Persona 5 Royal launched for the PS4 in Japan on October 31. The game will launch in the West on March 31. The PlayStation Stores in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Indonesia are listing the English/Chinese version of Persona 5 Royal with a February 20 release date in Asia.
The game will include all DLC from the original Persona 5 game. The Launch Edition of the game will include a Steelbook case and a PS4 theme. The game will also have a Phantom Thieves Edition, which will include a Joker mask with stand, collector's box, art book, soundtrack, Steelbook, and PS4 theme. New DLC bundles will include a Kasumi costume bundle, battle bundle, and Persona bundle.
The game features the new character Kasumi Yoshizawa (voiced by Sora Amamiya in Japanese) and the new confidant character Takuto Maruki (voiced by Satoshi Hino in Japanese). Additionally, the game reveals the untold third school semester and has new school life and phantom life content. New features also include Status Assist, more songs, and enhanced graphics with PlayStation 4 Pro support.
It's no secret that the Persona series has been at the cusp of video game culture for a while now, especially ever since the release of Persona 4 and its remake Persona 4 Golden (which recently sold over 500,000 copies on its PC re-release). But since the release of Persona 5, the series was brought to the forefront of video game culture, and that's reflected in the sales of the series, which has skyrocketed to 13 million copies sold, overshadowing its parent series Shin Megami Tensei.
The official Persona Japanese website announced on July 22 that Persona 5 Royal had sold 1.4 million copies worldwide since it was released in November 2019. Combining that with the lifetime sales of both it and its original version, Persona 5, the games have sold at least a collective 4.6 million copies. To celebrate the milestone, character designer on the series, Shigenori Soejima, illustrated the newest girls to the Persona series, Kasumi and Persona 5 Scramble's Sophia.
We do see the new girl of this game appear early in the Casino pregame cutscene and battle.
Even the NPCs and Sojiro mentioned her. She appeared a few times.
I almost thought I couldn't complete the compendium for the first dungeon because this is your starter monsters. Morgana kept one shotting the jack o' lantern creatures that were weak to wind. To capture/negotiate the monsters to your party, you need to knock them down via elemental weakness or critical attack (this is RNG, luck based). We found a chest monster which had more defense or HP that was also a Jack o Lantern. That was lucky.
Disastrous Shadows - they explode
Will Seed - more extra tasks for dungeons. Optional - makes good accessories.
Special challenges in the Velvet Room.
Teh accessories now do special moves in battle. It's like an extra skill. Example: Giving the breeze ring to Ann allows her to use Garu, a wind spell. She's a fire specialist. IN the first special round, most of the points goes to Ann (x7) and then wind spells (x3).
I had saved some screenshots. Hadn't transferred them.
The Kamoshida Palace boss battle had new changes. He made it more personal for Ryuji and Ann who saw their friends being treated as slaves for setting the volleyball.
I'm surprise to see the councilor and them mentioning about mental health. Ryuji and Ann are suspicious because they see it as the school doing damage control to repair their reputation. Though, I see it as good for the students considering how much psychological and physical harm Kamoshida did. It's going to be hard for the kids to move on and establish trust with other teachers. At first, it didn't seem mandatory. It was when Kawakami emphasize it and then that the councilor will leave in December. Ann and Ryuji decide to do it to avoid suspicions. It seems the new girl is connected with the councilor.
Finished the 2nd dungeon. I had died a total of 3 times. First play through is always tough. I had it set on normal difficulty. I run out of SP fast. I haven't had the chance to increase my guts to level 2 to initiate and get through Tae's social link. If I had her done a bit more, I would have had access to SP adhesives. None of the DLC accessories help with SP replenishment. I do like having an extra elemental spell. None of the DLC Persona had good immunities and resistances for my situation such as null physical. The boss fight was less personal for Yusuke compared to Ann and Ryuji's with Kamoshida. The boss fight added elemental fakes which were pretty tough. I realize later on in the fight, I should concentrate my attack on the real Madara while at least taking down 2 of the fakes. If I had all the fakes, the fakes will outnumber and knock down my allies because they have elemental weaknesses (fire, ice, wind, thunder). Luckily, I had a Persona that had no fire, ice, wind, or thunder weaknesses. I had that weird Chariot white persona that only had Frei/nuclear weakness while null physical and bullet. That same Persona was my enemy as I kept running into it. That was the one that killed me. I eventually get Frei or someone with Atom Ring. All out attacks don't do a lot of damage.
New features: Traits - you can pass down like "Pokemon abilities" in addition to techniques.
Thieves Den Jose and Mementos - I guess they were trying to add more rewards for Mementos.
I was trying to figure who I romance in P5. It was Tae and then I found out in one of my posts that I made separate files for the lovers. I didn't have my PS3 version. I sold it for the PS4 version long ago. The transferred data only had Takemi's Christmas gift. I beat the final boss to find out the file's romance pick. It was Hifumi. I can't remember anything from P5.
First confidant I finished was Strength. Because they put VIP treatment in rank 5, I decided to waste all my money in getting it to 10. First party confidant was Ryuji. I romance Ann. Haven't max out any of the social stats. Playing darts with Ryuji is challenging because he makes you do 501. Ann added difficulty but not as much as Ryuji. This will be my 3rd time if I try to max out his baton pass.
I wished I knew you can get black kogatana and model gun in Mementos when it rains, torrential rain.
Proficiency maxed out first then Knowledge was 2nd.
Guts and Charm are hard to boost for me productively as confidants that boost them (Takemi -> Guts, Iwai -> Guts, Ohya -> Charm) had some prerequisites. Sun confidant does boost Charm. I maxed out his confidant quickly. I fond working at the convenience store help especially when I was low on cash during the aftermath of completing Okumura Palace.
Speaking of Okumura Palace, I should had Trumpeter with Gun Amp and Gun Boost, the bosses had no resistance to gun attacks. I was relying on one of my Riders’ gun and Haru Triple Shot techniques. I died and got a game over on my first attempt. I had forgotten that if the protagonist dies, it’s game over.
Mementos became useful because of Jose's shop. Jose started selling black kogatana and model gun (just 1 stock when you visit Mementos for that day). I don't know when he does it.
Maxing out Fortune allows you to summon Fusion Alarms for 20,000 Yen.
Last one to finish confidant (excluding Royal characters was Haru). Last stat to max out was Guts. Bought the DLC for Velvet Room challenges after seeing some stuff that can help make things convenient. Feel it's wrong that you can't use Kasumi in the ship palace after the protagonist and Morgana said it was too dangerous to get involved. Pretty much every Palace, you had a new party member. Finally learned how to play the dart game. It was confusing. I kept going above the number as the game near its end.
Old Man Dream: Fun fact about The Rescuers: It has a dirty little secret you can find in older releases of the movie. (NSFW, as a heads up)

Taka: Didn't see anything until I read the description and comments. It goes by really fast. Edit: Someone really sneak in a picture. Edit 2: Tried pausing to find it. It's harder to track compared to REZERO's IF pictures

Old Man Dream: Set the playback speed on the video to 0.25x. Should make it easier to get a good pause on one of the two naughty bits. Both appear around 0:19ish in the video.
