Japan has become a supernatural hot zone and possibly the nation with the most supernatural activity on Earth. Japan is a place where warriors who embrace martial arts and supernatural arts thrive. The current regime is called the Onmyodo Shogunate because the Onmyouji are basically at the top of the governmental system. It’s because of the current regime that coexistence between humans and Supernatural beings is maintained to the level it is.
Japan was once more razed by a world war with most of its modern infrastructure destroyed. The 2nd Rennaisance didn’t catch on too well in Japan, Japan had begun to revert back to how it was in its feudal times and more importantly began to develop into a warring states era. Japan was actually receiving a lot of aid from foreign powers but these foregin powers had ulterior motives of taking over Japan. Each foreign power backed a different faction so naturally there was conflict between the individual states. This lasted all the way till the 2nd Rennaissance
The 2nd Renaissance for Japan was almost a flood of the Supernatural which even destabilized the relationship between the warring factions and their foreign backers who were to focused on their internal affairs to be bothered with exerting extra time and resources into Japan. One art however rose above the others and brought order to humans and supernaturals alike, Onmyodo. Rather than use their art to drive away the supernaturals they forged a relationship with them after gaining the trust of humans from lending humans aid against evil and malevolent supernaturals. The Onmyouji led by example fighting alongside good supernaturals against evil ones letting the average human know there’s a difference. They also provided humans with weapons made and enhanced using onmyodo. This was the beginning of supernatural arts becoming widely accepted in Japan.
The Onmyouji under their leader Tsuchimikado Seimei, also called Seimei the Second, Japan had become unified and had fought off the influence of foreign imperialistic powers. This was the establishment of the Onmyouji Shogunate, it was named after the group because the next leader would be chosen the title was not necessarily hereditary. Before he died, Tsuchimikado Seimei made Kyoto the Supernatural heart of Japan the capital and also the place were humans and supernaturals interact the most because of the Supernatural ley lines.
Government and Society
The government is basically a military government managed by the Shogun. Each province has a degree of autonomy but are of course held responsible for the upkeep of their provinces and loyalty to the Shogun. These provinces are managed by Daimyo, who are typically the Heads of the greatest onmyouji clan in that province. The Daimyo in turn have different factions and such of their provinces report back to them. If your Daimyo is a governor then those that report to him are like mayors and district leaders who are in turn responsible for the defense and upkeep of the areas they govern. That includes Supernaturals especially those that are Guardians of a forest or something.
The society in general advocates for coexistence between Supernaturals and humans. Japan resembles its pre modern self with its infrastructure and its people. There are no longer skyscrapers or things like that. Japan uses magic and such in the place of its modern infrastructure such as ships with flying capabilities, teleportation stations, and more. Even communication is very Supernaturally based with this such as communications tags and crystal balls. Also human supernatural hybrids can be found in Japan because of how freely humans and Supernaturals interact with each other.
The Military is very Supernaturally inclined and as a whole is very diverse because of the way the government is set up. Forces from each province could vary because from one place it could a bunch of nature yokai from another place it could be samurai. Onmyouji generally supply arms and resources to whichever of their forces request them. The Onmyouji directly oversee things like the Mech Corps, which are based around these supernaturally made mechs which often have chosen pilots. The Onmyouji also directly oversee particularly powerful individuals, including Godsend possessors.
The standard humans soldier would be wearing some kind of supernaturally made enhancement samurai armor and carry a supernaturally made katana as well as a Supernaturally made pistol. Firearms in Japan resemble muskets, cannons, and gattling guns but possess capabilities and functions similar to those of normal firearms.
Kyoto is the capital of Japan and the Supernatural heart of this nation because of the quality of the ley lines within the city. Many powerful individuals call this place home such as the Shogun and various powerful Supernaturals. The city itself was surprisingly minimally touched by WW3 or the internal conflicts that followed. Many factions keep an ambassador of some sort within the city in case they need to go around the Onmyouji Clan of their area. Naturally because it's the Capital is has a large and diverse population. Widespread organization are often headquartered within Kyoto following the example of the Onmyouji.

Dream: Hmmmm... looks like the version of Vampire Bund I'm seeing on Funi's YouTube channel's an edited version. A couple minutes of episode 2 were clearly removed with Mina in nothing but underwear battling human assassins. Then again, recall there was a good...

Dream: Not sure if I should be donning the nostalgia goggles or not giving a damn. Looks like the original Digimon Adventure series is getting a reboot airing starting in the Spring season.
Jan 21, 2020 3:21:13 GMT
Taka: I'll watch it if there's nothing catching my eye in Spring. winter 2020 was a weak anime season for me.

Dream: Wouldn't say it's all bad for me. Have a few titles holding my interest. Just it typically doesn't have as many major titles of note that would hold me over.
